J.D. Vance says Donald Trump has a "Marine Corps style of leadership." The Vice President and I served in Iraq at the same time. He knows as well as anyone that that is complete B.S. – and an insult to our Servicemembers.

My first job in the @BarackObama Admin was overseeing our overseas military cemeteries- including #AisneMarne in France, which Trump skipped. Walking for hours among thousands of graves of fellow Americans there was humbling beyond measure. This is nauseating. #NHPolitics #ABMC

I’ve had the honor of visiting Aisne-Marne American Cemetery twice, as an ABMC Commissioner in Obama Administration. When it rained- we brought boots. The President’s absence today is a slap in the face to America and our Allies and is disgraceful on the Marine Corps Birthday

On the Marine Corps' 243rd birthday, President Trump has cancelled, because of light rain, his long-planned attendance at the ceremony at Aisne-Marne, where Marines who fought at Belleau Wood are buried. The WH COS and JCS Chair will be there. The President couldn't be bothered.

I know weapons. Part of my job in the Marines was overseeing the safe storage of weapons. I’ve fired machine guns many times. Let me be very clear: assault weapons- the weapons of war our team used in Iraq- have no place on the streets of the United States. Period. #nhpolitics

One of the 1st things I learned in @USNavy & #Marines training is to take care of your people & accomplish the mission. Captain Crozier was doing his job- trying to protect his Sailors & was not getting the needed resources. Congress needs to investigate why he was fired.
