It's World Kindness Day, and we could all do with a healthy dose, particularly the natural environment. Here's how you can be kind to your local wildlife 1/6🧵:

Let it go wild 🥳 One way to show both yourself and your local wildlife some kindness is just to kick back and let your garden go a bit wild. Let the grass grow and give up on weeding - if anyone asks, you're doing it for the animals, duh? 📸: Arnhel de Serra

The National Trust welcomes the Prime Minister's commitment to an 81% emissions reduction by 2035. This target should drive action to address the climate crisis with the ambition and urgency recommended by the Climate Change Committee. #COP29

Restoring nature and increasing carbon stocks on land is a critical step towards this goal, so we look forward to hearing more from, and working with, the Prime Minister on the Government's plans to restore nature at pace and scale as part of the UK's path to Net Zero.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Tredegar House commemorates the 170th anniversary of the Charge of the Light Brigade. 📷Paul Harris

Look out for Montacute, Great Chalfield Hall, and Horton Court on the BBC this Sunday. We’re not telling where, but here’s a clue: 🐺🏰

What an exciting project to be a part of! Looking after our planet goes hand in hand with preserving our much-loved sites. We can't wait to see the hub in action and wish the team all the best in its research.
Penryn campus, University of Exeter. The screengrab has been taken looking up at the campus building which has been built with a light pink brick. There are narrow window slots across the building and a glass floor at the very top of the building.

Originally planted after WWI by veteran Edmund Blyth, the Cathedral is a peaceful, green sanctuary honouring lost friends and comrades. Its “walls” are formed entirely by trees, shrubs, and plants, arranged in the shape of a traditional cathedral! 📸Mike Selby

Just like any cathedral, Whipsnade needs constant care. Ash trees planted in 1938 have been removed due to a fungal disease. Now we’re planting 12 resilient wild service tree saplings in their place to boost biodiversity and restore the Cathedral to its former glory! 📸Mike
