The latest work from Taekyoung & Pranav @TrubyLab is out at @AdvSciNews! Taekyoung led the development of a flexible, electrically-driven soft actuator! Motorizing soft architected materials like these are enabling a new path for artificial muscle design. bit.ly/4cGzPHN

After years of imagining this day, I’m here. I’m right where I need and want to be. Day 1 of being a #newPI is done! Grateful for the unconditional support of family, friends and mentors who got me here. You’ve all been on my mind today as I begin this next adventure.

So excited to have the last of my postdoc research as a @SchmidtFellows out in @ScienceAdvances! These are some of the neatest “sensorized”materials I’ve 3D printed! Loved working with Lilly Chin and Annan Zhang on this work.

New 3D-printed materials that sense their own motion could be useful in flexible robots or wearable devices. Air-filled channels deform when the material is squeezed or stretched, and measuring the air pressure reveals how the structure is deforming. mitsha.re/SIXz50KhN7H
3D-printed crystalline lattice structures with air-filled channels, known as "fluidic sensors," embedded into the structures. The indents on the middle of lattices are the outlet holes of the sensors.

Winter lectures done! I confess: I had help starting teaching as a #NewPI. Meet a retired public school teacher who got me through each day. After years of her hearing only about research, I’ve started the part of my job she inspired all along. Meet my secret weapon; meet my mom

Excited to share that my first independent paper is out today in Accounts of Materials Research @ACSPublications! I make a first attempt at formalizing a vision for "robotic materials" and sharing how materials can drive innovations in robotics. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

Our lab surprised me with the most thoughtful bday gift today: 🍩+🧁+sweetest card+our “1st” group photo. I wanted to formally introduce them this month. But, after a long 2021 & full immersion into #newPI life, I want you all to see a sneak peak of the team Im so lucky to be on.
