Following the abduction of our beloved senior ring-tailed lemur, Maki, we received an outpouring of concern, which led to his return late Thursday evening! Somewhat anxious and hungry, Maki appears to be in good health!
What a relief to have Maki safe at home! We wanted to share this vid of Maki just after his rescue last night. We’re so grateful for the swift work by @SFPD to arrest his abductor, which they announced today.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Garcia, 15-year-old male Mexican gray wolf.
As Mexican gray wolves go, Garcia was uncharacteristically bold, curious and playful, which made him a fan favorite by both visitors and animal staff alike.
SF Zoo mourns the passing of Oscar Jonesy, the third oldest Western lowland gorilla in a US Zoo. Western lowland gorillas are listed as critically endangered by the IUCN, making Oscar an important icon of conversation at the Zoo.
