I collect ‘70s, ‘80s & ‘90s consoles. I’m terrible at games, good at hoarding, and apparently allergic to modern hardware. I have more money than sense (£3.87), and I mostly potter about in retro gaming with no real talent or plan.

This, for the uninitiated, is a Panasonic 3DO M2. I preordered it in '96 and only took 25 years to arrive. I will continue to retweet this until I receive what I consider to be the appropriate number of likes, which based on my current levels of delight, is roughly 1million. 🤣👍

Another World was a fantastic game. My ST version, for some reason, was in French. (A mystery indeed) The 3DO version is different because the backgrounds were painted and scanned in. Still the best looking version in my book!

Road Rash on the 3DO is unquestionably one of the best games on the system. (And if you do question, brace yourself for the wrath of the 3DO faithful. Both of us... 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍)

Doom running on an Atari 8Bit. It runs smoothly. Not bad for a machine with a CPU running at 1.77Mhz (that's Mega, not Giga 🤣)

I'm more impressed by 3D graphics from the '80s and '90s with big chunky polygons, chugging along at 25FPS, than anything in the last 15 years. This is Coala AGA on the Amiga 1200 (Pistormed), and I think they're quite beautiful. But then, I am odd. 🤣👍👍😍

In '95, MK3 on 3DO was promised. We saw footage, part numbers, mag covers… then nothing. Now, in 2024, Shaun Nicholson delivers: a gorgeous MKII port on 3DO. It took 29 years, but we finally got Mortal Kombat—and it's brutal in all the right ways. 😃😍😍

Ridge Racer Revolution. You must remember texture mapping, lots of Polygons, CD-quality sound, game adverts, and lens flare, which were all pretty exciting in 1995. People no longer care about the number of polygons on screen or MIPs. It's all very depressing. 🤣🤣

Internet and mere pictures don't convey about these things is quite how mesmerizingly beautiful the games are in the flesh. It sounds quite harmonic too. The '70s electronic 'buzz' coming from it does sound like a philosophical bee is pondering inside the case, but... wow. 😍

My Top 5 List of Games Machines the Internet told me were crap, but I disagree with them. #5: Sega 32X Sure, not many games, but of the 40 or so it does have, there's plenty to explore. Lots of good ones, too.
