I never dreamed I’d have the honor to once again serve as Surgeon General. In this moment of crisis, I’m grateful for the opportunity to help end this pandemic, be a voice for science, and support our nation on its path to rebuilding and healing.

The White House attacks on Dr. Fauci are unfair and dangerous. He's been right on #COVID19 far more than the politicians who blame him. During pandemics, science is your guide-even if it's politically inconvenient. Covid is surging. We need to hear more from scientists, not less.

As #COVID19 cases surge, let’s remember there is no shame in feeling frustrated, scared, and fatigued. It doesn’t mean we’re weak. It means we’re human. The only way we get through this pandemic is by looking out for supporting one another. Pandemics are best fought together.

So if you are reading the news about games being cancelled, schools being suspended, and people avoiding group events due to #COVID19 - and if you're wondering if it's an overreaction, the answer is no. The earlier we act, the more lives we save. Period. (10/x END)

We need a national stay at home order. Needed it weeks ago. It remains the most powerful tool we have at this moment to reduce the spread of #covid19. The reluctance to call for such a policy represents a critical failure of federal leadership that will cost lives. (1/x)

As I take the stand this morning, I want to dedicate my confirmation hearing to my Uncle Raman who recently passed away from COVID-19. I am thinking of him and all of my family, friends, and mentors who have supported me over the years. Today is their day, too.

At 2am last night, my 2 year old woke up crying and scared. I did what parents do – I held him and comforted him until he fell asleep. What happens to the 2000+ children separated from their parents when they wake up at night? This is morally indefensible. #FamiliesBelongTogether
