Robinhood Wallet now offers native in-app perps trading powered by Lighter, enabling users to trade perpetuals and tokenized stocks on a new Lighter instance built for Robinhood Chain, using USDG as its quote asset.

Clarification: “through the end of the year” here meant that Lighter points season 2 is planned to end before the end of the year, not at exactly Dec 31.

The first season of the Lighter points program has concluded and the second season is starting, planned to run through the end of 2025. In the coming days, we will publish more details on the ways the community can earn points at this phase in the Lighter journey.

Lighter points are not earned based on volume. If you’re a retail trader, don’t over trade. You will lose time and money and won’t get points either. Just trade as you normally would on a CEX or Robinhood.

Quick math to see what it actually takes to make $1M from Lighter 🕯️ - Points are trading OTC around $80 each atm - So, $1M / $80 = 12,500 Lighter points needed And From my experience: - Around $50K volume on low OI pairs (held for a few hours) = 1 point - Which means 12,500 ×

Being an L1 is a bug, not a feature. An L1 is just an Ethereum L2 without any of the security and verifiability parts. Your conclusion may be correct but in the opposite direction.

The question of high volumes on Lighter has come up again, so I wanted to share some thoughts. For one thing, we don't incentivize volume and it's not the main metric we track, those are OI and TVL.

lighter is faking about 80% of their volume definitely kicking the hornet's nest here but w/e "faking" is perhaps too imprecise - facilitating inorganic volume
