Shitty project of a the day, a file transfer tool over sound using fountain code
It's live on https://services.coopix.eu/airgap-sound/ (using wasm but you can use the rust binaries if you want)
The fountain code is an algorithm allowing an unidirectional transfer to pick up a broadcast at any moment, and once it received enough data, there is a domino effect with XORs allowing to build the data
Works fine on smartphones, laptops and desktop, some microphones/speakers might filter the range used which is inaudible for most people (there is little use to have speakers supporting this)
We have reached the 400€ mark of monthly recurring revenue from subscriptions for #Git hosting. Thanks everyone! ![]()
🐡 Hello server30! A brand new machine just joined the fleet.
Dell PowerEdge R630 with 2× Xeon E5-2690 v4, a comfy 256G of RAM, and a PERC H730 Mini herding 2x146GB 15K SAS + 2x900GB 10K SAS disks.
That is 30 servers, actually 32. :)
Thanx for all the support!

#OpenBSD: When You Update Your Production System Before Your First Cup of Coffee! 8.0 is huge!
I wrote up some “good-to-know” things about ASPA and RTR v2, and explain that upgrading to RTR v2 is beneficial even if you don’t plan on doing ASPA verification. (RTR v2 fixes some nuisances for ROA payload distribution!) https://blog.qrator.net/en/ASPA-what-to-expect_229/
The upcoming #OpenBSD #Qt update to 6.12 will come with VA-API support enabled in QtMultimedia. QtMultimedia’s FFmpeg backend can now offload video decoding to the GPU via VA-API (Intel media driver / Mesa on AMD), so Qt and KDE apps on OpenBSD get hardware-accelerated playback for codecs like H.264, HEVC, VP9 and AV1 instead of decoding everything on the CPU.
New matching syntax to control the matching rules in relayd:

I’d be delighted if prelayd users could test this and provide feedback.
Best-case scenario 1: everything is as usual.
Best-case scenario 2: you get an error message regarding your config and discover a config bug in your config.
Worst-case scenario: the behaviour changes
All in all, it was a nice #OSSummit. As for Ai, I’d say the LF is simply seeing just how far we can take it. There was no sign of any critical voices.
Perhaps in the subtext!?
Does copyright in OSS licence still hold any value?
Who is the copyright holder? LLM or the prompt auth.
