Is this project dead? Because it seems like it.

I've been using this app for months, and I'm almost completely satisfied with it, except for one thing. It randomly stops switching languages and doesn't show an error. I also couldn't find any logs in the settings or anything. How can I figure out what's wrong if I can't even see the error? How can I file a bug report without even the slightest debugging data?

Hi @bpGusar, you could try running the app using Xcode and see if the console log provides any information about the error.

Here is the log from the Xcode console. I encountered the problem but the thing is that the console doesn't show any new messages, messages that I see now is the same that I got when I first launched the app.

I used Claude Code with xhigh effort to make some changes to the code, but I can't push them to a new branch

I ran into the same thing (a Left Shift + Left Command group, 2.12.0, macOS 26.6 and 27.0) and tracked it down. Nothing is logged because nothing fails: the modifier-combo logic in ShortcutTriggerManager gets stuck believing a modifier is still held.

Reliable repro

Set a switch group to Modifier Combination → Left Shift + Left Command.
Hold Right Shift, then hold Left Shift.
Release Right Shift, then release Left Shift.
Press Left Command + Left Shift: the input source no longer switches, no matter how many times you try.
Tap Right Shift once: switching works again.

Cause
handleFlagsChanged tracks held keys in pressedModifiers and decides press vs. release from the device-independent flag (ShortcutTrigger.swift#L494-L497). Both Shift keys share .shift, so releasing Right Shift while Left Shift is held reads as a press, and Right Shift is never removed. The same happens if a key's release never reaches the app at all.

From then on every attempt looks like the combo plus an extra modifier, so it is invalidated. And since pressedModifiers never becomes empty (L516), the trigger check never runs. Nothing resets that state until the same key is pressed and released again, or the app restarts.

Workaround: tap each modifier that isn't in your combo (Right Shift, Control, Option, Right Command). One of them is the stuck key.

Fix: every flagsChanged event carries the full modifier state, so the manager can re-sync with it on each event. PR: #138. I've used a patched build daily for three days without the issue coming back.
