Limit reset status board
Every vendor handles a limit reset differently. Codex gets surprise global resets announced on X; Claude runs per-account 5-hour and weekly windows; Gemini and Copilot reset on a fixed clock. This board puts every usage limit reset on one line each.

What a limit reset is — and why it is worth tracking
Tracks completed reset reports and upcoming announcements. Codex data syncs every three minutes; delivery can lag the original source.
Two kinds matter. Scheduled resets are predictable once you know your window: this site computes the fixed ones and lets you store your own weekly time. Global resets are the surprise kind — a vendor refreshing everyone’s usage at once, which OpenAI has done for Codex dozens of times in 2026. Those are the ones people search for at 2 am, and the ones this tracker verifies against the original announcement before listing.
Use the board below to see where each product stands, open a product page for its history and forecast, and turn on an alert so the next reset finds you instead of the other way round.
How limit reset tracking works
- We watch official vendor channels and status pages every few minutes for limit reset announcements.
- Each announcement is classified (global limit reset, banked reset, limits change, incident) and linked to its source.
- Deterministic resets (Gemini midnight PT, Copilot 1st of month UTC) are computed, not guessed.
- Every usage limit reset is available as JSON, RSS and README badges.
Limit reset FAQ
What does “limit reset” mean for AI tools?
Most AI subscriptions (Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Gemini, Copilot, Grok) cap how much you can use per window — 5 hours, a day, a week or a billing month. A usage limit reset is the moment that window rolls over and your quota is restored. Some vendors also grant a global limit reset to everyone at once.
Did Codex reset today?
Check the hero above: it shows the last verified Codex limit reset and how long ago it landed. Codex resets are announced by OpenAI’s Codex lead on X; we record each limit reset with a link to the source.
When does the Claude limit reset?
Claude has two windows: a 5-hour session window that starts with your first message, and a weekly window that resets at a fixed, account-specific time shown in Settings → Usage. There is no global Claude limit reset time.
Is this site official?
No. LimitReset is an independent community tracker and is not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, GitHub or Anysphere. Every limit reset links to its original announcement.
Can I get notified when a limit resets?
Yes — browser push, email, Telegram alerts and RSS feeds per product, plus a public JSON API. Pick a product page to subscribe to that product’s limit reset alerts only.
What time do AI usage limits reset?
It depends on the vendor. Gemini API daily quotas reset at midnight Pacific Time and Copilot premium requests reset on the 1st of the month at 00:00 UTC. Claude and Codex use rolling windows, so your usage limit reset time depends on when you started — check Settings → Usage. Cursor resets on your billing date.
Do unused limits roll over after a limit reset?
No. Every vendor we track discards unused allowance at the reset: a Claude weekly window, a Codex weekly window, Cursor included usage and Copilot premium requests all start from zero. Plan heavy work right after a usage limit reset rather than saving it up.
How do I find my own reset time?
Claude: Settings → Usage or /usage in Claude Code. Codex: Settings → Usage or /status in the CLI. Grok: Settings → Usage. Cursor: Dashboard → Spending. Copilot: Settings → Copilot → Usage. Enter that time in the countdown tool on this site and it will track your next usage limit reset in your browser.
What is the difference between a rate limit and a usage limit reset?
A rate limit is a short burst cap — too many requests in a minute — that clears within minutes and has no fixed reset time. A usage limit is your subscription allowance for a window; it only comes back at the limit reset. When an error mentions “rate”, wait a moment; when it mentions “usage”, check your reset time.
Can I trigger a limit reset myself?
Only with Codex banked resets, which OpenAI issues to your account for you to spend when you choose. Elsewhere the options are extra usage (Claude), usage-based pricing (Cursor), overage (Copilot) or an API key — none of them is a usage limit reset, but all of them let you keep working until the real one lands.
