This article describes a feature available to all Dropbox Dash users.

You can connect your Microsoft OneNote account to Dropbox Dash so you can access and search your OneNote content directly within Dash.

Requirements

To connect Microsoft OneNote to Dash, make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • Admin approval: If Microsoft OneNote isn’t listed in your Apps, contact your admin. Learn more about admin approval.
  • Authorization: You must authorize Dash in Microsoft OneNote.
  • Active account: You need an active account with Microsoft OneNote.

Integration features

For Microsoft OneNote, Dash captures the following details:

  • Notebooks: Microsoft OneNote users can create multiple notebooks. Dash gathers OneNote information, such as notebook titles and content, so it can search these items.
  • Sections: Each notebook can contain multiple sections. Dash gathers OneNote information, such as section names and content, so it can search these items.
  • Pages: Each notebook can contain multiple pages. Dash gathers OneNote information, such as page content, so it can search these items.

API permissions

When connecting Microsoft OneNote, Dash requests the following:

  • Read OneNote notebooks you can access: This permission allows Dash to search for notebooks that have been shared with you.
  • Read your OneNote notebooks: This permission allows Dash to search for your notebooks.
  • Offline data access: This permission allows Dash to maintain access to data even when you’re offline.
  • Your user profile data: This permission allows Dash to access user profile data, including your name and email, so Dash can identify you after login.

How content syncing works

  • Content sync starts as soon as you connect. Although the first sync may take several hours to finish, you can start searching while sync is in progress.
  • Dash performs a full sync of your Microsoft OneNote content every 7 days and an incremental sync every 8 minutes.
