Ridiculous Things I Got From Kickstarter

In no particular order:

1) Cthulhu-with-Santa-hat stickers - every bit as charming as they look.

2) Metal dice with etched lines instead of numbers. Pretentious but gorgeous.

3) Book about things not to stick up your butt; an important reference work for any slash fan.

4) Fidget cubes. Five of them, in different colors. Kid the Younger prefers the clicky lever; Kid the Elder likes the ball-bearing that rolls and clicks. KtE also hates the "joystick" button, which reminds her too much of lousy video game controllers. I like the spinny flat wheel, which works better on some of them than on others. Overall, we are delighted with them.

5) B.A.T. Coin, which looks much cooler than it is practical (I'm considering sharpening the curved edge so that it actually works as a letter/box opener.)

6) Emotion and weather dice, because there are never enough d12s.

7) Color-changing caffeine mug with matching (not color changing) coaster. Is my new favorite coffee mug, slightly edging out the Batman mug from Geek Fuel.

8) Glow in the dark dice that nobody else at the table can read.

9) A Buddhistic tabletop RPG. In paper, even. In a box. (Most of the RPGs I buy these days are PDFs.)

10) The return of MST3K, of which there are now 20 classic episodes on Netflix, with the new season starting on the 14th. I just finished watching Pod People with my daughter; it was one of her father's favorites, and she loved it. (For those values of "loved" that involve staring at the screen and saying, "WHY? WHY IS HE DOING THAT?")

Things I Am Still Waiting For:

1) Flat multi-size measuring spoons. I got 3 pairs. No, I have no idea what I'll do with them.

2) A collection of fictional adventure stories about soldiers, with special focus on war-caused disabilities and the difficulties of re-acclimation to society.

3) A looks-pretty-fun Superhero RPG using the FATE system. (Anyone wanna play a superhero game? Roll20 might have FATE setups.)

4) A mobile/tablet dance game based on the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I don't even like mobile games. (But RHPS was a big part of my formative years, so I thought, yeah, one more fragment of my lost youth dragged into the future.)

5) Fantasy Gaming coins; I got a few sets; it's been long enough that I don't remember exactly which ones I Picked. (Coins are just 2-sided dice, right?)

Dice I Am Still Waiting For: (Did I mention I like dice? I like dice. A lot.)
1) 13- and 15-sided dice (and a cluster of other dice through the backerkit)

2) Very cool looking Trap Die D12 for a game I didn't bother getting.

3) Wizard dice with fireball-shaped d6s and a pointy-hat D20 and potion D8s. And more.

4) Something called PlaySmart Dice - they're D12s (which are not even my favorite! Really! I like d10s, but apparently D12s is where all the weirdness winds up.) that are supposed to be educational by forcing you to think harder about the results, or something like that. Anyway. They fall under "more dice that nobody else at the table can read accurately," always a useful thing to have.

5) Elder Dice - Cthulhu-themed sets; I got all three so I get the special collector box thingie. I hope. Maybe I just get three sets of dice in eldritch colors and with nifty runic things for the 1's.

6) Constellation dice paper templates; print-and-build 'em yourself. I considered whether to fork over money for the actual dice, but decided I couldn't afford them - shipping from the UK bumps them out of my price range. Which is good, because they're kinda out of my price range anyway.

7) 100 d6's with glyphs instead of numbers, apparently with a set of game rules to make them usable. Or multiple games worth of rules. Something like that. Lots of weird dice.

8) Standard "gamer" dice in two-color blends; I think I got 3 sets + getting one for free as a prize for backing early. The choose-your-colors option isn't available yet; I think I'm going with Phoenix, Psionic, Heir, and either Super or Spider.

Yay kickstarter! I've backed a *lot* of projects on kickstarter. Lots of fun stuff.

I've not had good luck with dice-related kickstarters - several of them haven't delivered at all, although one did refund me.

Oh, thanks for these links. I had fun poking around and found two Kickstarters to join. Woot.
