This “Structured Discovery” is a journey the advisor and client take together using a series of exercises to understand Financial Readiness, Business Readiness and Personal Readiness for transition. Driven by standardized tools and technology, Express specifically focuses on better defining the business owner’s goals and life after the business.

THE PROCESS:

- Meeting #1 – Stakeholders
Includes a discussion about the business, the clients’ initial preferred strategy, and its potential impact on family, employees, partners and customers.
Key Tools and Exercises: ExitMap® Analysis (optional), Documentation Checklist, Business Baseline - Meeting #2 – Financial Readiness
In three exercises, you will model the clients’ discretionary cash flow, determine how a lender would look at financing, and calculate the amount needed from the sale in order to achieve their goals.
Key Tools and Exercises: Cash Flow Normalization, Triangulating Distance to Goal, Seller’s Sanity Check - Meeting #3 – Business Readiness
The focus of this meeting is on the company’s dependence on the owner, and the recruiting or training needs for them to successfully step back from daily operations.
Key Tools and Exercises: Owner Centricity Quiz, Management Succession Worksheets - Meeting #4 – Personal Readiness
Using three cooperative exercises, you will help the client determine their activity, income requirements, identity and purpose in their “life after the business.”
Key Tools and Exercises: Value Gap Analysis, Personal Vision Builder, Prioritization Planning - Meeting #5 – Prioritized Action Items
After helping the owner choose their most important objectives for implementation, you will work with them to develop the targets, time frames and accountable parties needed to move forward.

The final report will document your clients’ Goals, Personal Vision, and the Action Items for moving forward with their transition plan.
