An icon-first platform built for designers, developers, and teams who need consistent visuals, and for creators who want to publish and sell their work. Today we combine a large free library with premium packs, a marketplace, and tools like the SVG editor to make finding, customizing, and using icons fast and reliable.
Icon-Icons started in 2013 in Menorca, Spain.
Back then, I, Carlos, was working as a software developer, building business applications for companies. During one of my endless searches for the right icon for an interface, I came across something I had never seen before: a website focused entirely on icons. I loved the idea straight away!
What caught my attention was the consistency. Instead of finding random icons that did not match each other, these websites offered full icon packs with a clear visual style. That made much more sense for real interface design.
I liked the concept so much that I decided to build my own icon library 😊 It was the perfect project for me at the time, because it gave me the chance to learn more about web development and SEO while creating something genuinely useful.
Before starting, I took a close look at the icon websites that already existed. Most of them were in English, and searches only worked in English too. Competing there directly did not seem easy, but building a multilingual platform felt like a real opportunity, so I went for it!
That is how Icon-Icons was born. Not the best name, honestly, but I was obsessed with putting keywords in the domain and, as a beginner, I thought that would help me rank better on Google 😅
Over the years, the website has gone through a lot: hacks, technical limitations, old design decisions, database restructures, and all the usual chaos that comes with keeping a long-term web project alive. It also had to evolve with the times, adapting to new formats like SVG and new ways of working with icons.
For a long time, the original code I had written back in 2013 was the main thing holding the project back. If Icon-Icons was going to grow into something bigger, it needed a complete rebuild.
So in 2025, we fully refactored the platform and rebuilt it on a much stronger foundation for the future 🚀
In 2026, we launched the Icon-Icons Marketplace, where designers from around the world can sell their icon packs. We also introduced an SVG editor to customize icons before downloading, a new collections system, and other improvements that move the project into its next stage.
Icon-Icons is a website fully focused on icons.
What started as a free icon library is now growing into a platform built both for people who need great icons and for designers who create them.
The project has changed a lot since 2013, but the main idea is still the same: making it easier to find useful, well-organized, visually coherent icons for real design and development work!
