Jellyfin

Jellyfin is the official Android version of this open source app that allows you to organize, manage and stream your multimedia content. Jellyfin is an excellent alternative to Plex or Emby, since it allows you to enjoy your movies, TV series, music and photos with zero restrictions, wherever you are.

Access your server remotely

To access your content on the Jellyfin Android app, you must first have Jellyfin installed on a device that acts as a server, whether it is a computer, a NAS or a Raspberry Pi. That's where you will store your content, and the app will connect to the device in order to access it. Since you are the one managing it, you won't have to pay a subscription or additional fees. You can create your own library as you wish, as well as playlists.

Customize your library

Jellyfin has custom cover art, and shows you all the information about the multimedia content you are going to see. For example, for a movie, you can see the synopsis, actors, director, sleeve, year of release, etc. Jellyfin gathers all the content's metadata from the Internet, so you don't have to add it by hand.

Stream in any resolution you like (or can)

Jellyfin allows you to transcode your multimedia content in real time. This means you can adapt the resolution and bit rate to your Internet connection speed. For example, if you have a 4K video stored on your server and you want to watch it in Full HD because you have a mobile data connection on your device, you can watch it at a lower resolution without any issues.

Share your content with others

Jellyfin allows you to create users and manage their permissions. For example, you can choose to give full access to your library to one particular user, or choose to share only specific content with another. What's more, other users can have their content in a separate space so that it doesn't get mixed up with yours.
