Equity and Social Impact
KCLS fosters equity and social impact through welcoming and engaging library spaces and services for learning, literacy, and community connection. Our goal is to give everyone open access to information and opportunity, removing barriers as we meet the diverse and evolving needs of our patrons.
Through inclusive programs and services that celebrate a wide range of traditions and experiences, we create opportunities for dialogue and understanding. Our diverse collection reflects the voices and stories of people from all backgrounds, ensuring that every patron can see themselves represented and discover new perspectives. KCLS is a place where learning is open to all, empowering individuals and strengthening the fabric of our shared community. Learn more about our mission, vision, and values.

Our Work
KCLS is committed to co-creative relationships with communities across our service region. Our assessments and community needs reports help shape our ongoing work to build a more equitable, resilient, and socially connected community.
Accessibility
We are committed to making library services, spaces, and resources accessible to everyone. Our goal is to provide inclusive experiences and usable spaces for all patrons. We welcome accommodation requests and feedback about accessibility in our libraries. Please contact us at [email protected].
Heritage & Awareness
At KCLS, we celebrate the rich diversity in our communities through heritage and cultural awareness, which is observed throughout the year. During these observances we provide thoughtful programming, booklists, and inclusive celebrations that reflect the rich diversity of our community.
Events Recognizing Culture and Heritage
We host events that recognize significant cultural observances, providing space for education, storytelling, and shared experiences. Through curated displays, author talks, and interactive workshops, we foster understanding and appreciation for the histories and contributions of all people. These efforts help build a more informed and connected community, where every heritage is seen, valued, and celebrated.
