Movie Review: The Mandalorian and Grogu

Image

Spoiler Review

After 7 years, Star Wars returns to the big screen with The Mandalorian and Grogu, itself 3 years since the show aired its third season finale. Following the eponymous characters on their next journey, which finds them tracking down Imperial Remnants for the New Republic, The Mandalorian and Grogu offers an action-packed, creature-filled, low-stakes, fun time at the movies with some surprising beats, expected developments, and the usual lite character development. Find out what I loved, like all the things I never expected to see on the big screen, and what I didn’t quite, below in my review! Continue reading “Movie Review: The Mandalorian and Grogu”

Star Wars Comics August 2026 Solicitations

Image

August is when it’s the hottest before the fall for us in Wisconsin, so I’d have appreciated a few more comics to nestle inside with the A/C on, but Marvel only has three and Dark Horse at this point is skipping. 2026 really is shaping up to be the weirdest year for comics yet, but at least August sees our first non-tie-in release in a while from Marvel, with The Fall of Kylo Ren. Head below for August 2026’s Star Wars Comics Solicitations!

Canon Comic Review: Rogue One – Cassian Andor #1

Image

– Spoiler Review –

It’s hard to think of a better way to honor Rogue One‘s 10th Anniversary (what do you mean it’s been 10 years?!?) than basking in Andor‘s complexities, seeing the heroic efforts afterwards by rewatching the film, and maybe diving into A New Hope for the ultimate payoff. Marvel Comics didn’t want that to be fans’ only option and thus a series of one-shot comics were born. We begin with Rogue One: Cassian Andor #1, which tries to squeeze into the end of Andor season two and the beginning of the film. Read on for my review! Comic News: Miniseries The Fall of Kylo Ren Begins August 2026

Image

First there was the Rise, next the Legacy, and now…the Fall! It feels pretty appropriate, and not just due to the way Legacy of Vader ended, writer Charles Soule’s next entry in Kylo Ren’s journey would be titled The Fall of Kylo Ren (love the video graphic). The new 5-issue miniseries, which is probably going to be more the norm from Marvel these days, kicks off in August and will pick up where Legacy left off and take us right into The Rise of Skywalker! A look at the first covers, additional details, and some thoughts below the cut, but know we’ll be sat and reading! Continue reading “Comic News: Miniseries The Fall of Kylo Ren Begins August 2026”

TV News: Ahsoka Season 2 Heads to 2027

Image

There was no certainty Ahsoka‘s second season would drop in 2026, but with all the goodies in 2027, it seemed like the smartest idea. Yet maybe to give the bigger, bolder sophomore run more time to shine its head-tails, it’s joining the early 2027 crowd. That’s right, we not only get A New Hope rereleased in some ‘original‘ form on February 19, 2027, Star Wars Celebration Los Angeles 2027 from April 1-4, 2027, and the Ryan Gosling led Starfighter on May 28, 2027, but Ahsoka Season 2 now as well. I’m imagining it’ll premiere at Celebration and be done a week or two before Starfighter.

Either way, this was announced at the Disney Upfronts and attendees got to see some early footage which the official site said showcased an, “…action packed second season, with a glimpse at epic space battles and thrilling lightsaber combat,” though no one’s broken embargo and leaked more of what they saw in more detail (at least that I could find). Also tucked in the announcement, alongside the expected cast returning, Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, while not too surprising given his Force Ghost appearance in the season finale (and World Between Worlds shenanigans prior), was confirmed as well.

Good luck to all our wallets and time in 2027!

Maul – Shadow Lord Season One Finale Review: “Chapter 9 – Strange Allies” & “Chapter 10 – The Dark Lord”

Image

– Spoiler Review –

A weekly release schedule certainly would’ve still worked, but having to wait another week for the final episode after the cliffhanger in “Chapter 9” would’ve been excruciating. Thankfully, the double-batch release of Maul: Shadow Lord saved us the wait and gave us a memorable, intense, and emotional finale to the show’s first season, even if it exposed some of its issues. Time to unpack “Chapter 9 – Strange Allies” & “Chapter 10 – The Dark Lord”! Comic News: 2026’s Pride Month Connecting Variants!

Image

With a dearth of comic releases because Marvel’s gone hardline on their sales quotas, the cultural variant covers lines have had some of their smallest years ever. With so little issues to grace the line with, we get connecting variants to help push the collecting, but that’s never a worry with me, as I want to make sure and support the initiative so they keep doing it. Still, it was a shame to see only three for Black History Month, a dismal one for Women’s History Month, and at least another three for Pride Month 2026. Artist Rickie Yagawa, with colorist Tamra Bonvillain, make it a memorable three at least, with a few new faces and an overall snazzy look. But there’s a big gripe, worse than in previous years, but we’ll discuss that, as well as show off the big connective image, below! Continue reading “Comic News: 2026’s Pride Month Connecting Variants!”
