Frequently Asked Questions

What social media platforms are you available on?

I am available on ONLY the following platforms (ranked by activity):

Mastodon:

a decentralized and open-source software used to create and host independent federated servers called "instances" that function like social media platforms for their respective members. It operates quite differently from traditional centralized social networks like Twitter or Facebook. Each instance can have its own rules, community focus, and moderation policies. And, unlike Twitter and Facebook, there are no ads that track you and you have more control over your personal data.

📎My Purpose: to build an audience on the Fediverse and meet potential friends, colleagues, etc. as well as artists with similar styles and objectives to my own.

❔Why I'm there:

  1. I have no interest in any products by Meta (Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
  2. I have no interest in any products by Google (YouTube, Blogger, etc.).
  3. I have no interest in X/Twitter.
  4. Update: As of 10/5, I no longer have any interest in Bluesky.
  5. Update: As of 10/20, I no longer have any interest in Pinterest (no pun intended).
  6. I have no interest in TikTok/Douyin, Xiaohongshu/Red Note, and similar clones. I also have no interest in Snapchat or Discord.
  7. In the beginning, I did not like it very much due to technical issues and the fact that I have very little in common with its userbase, but I have changed my mind.
  8. For me, it surprisingly turned out to be very easy to use and navigate within the more I use it, so therefore I am more active on these Mastodon instances.

Side 7:

an independent art platform similar to DeviantArt but with features like an oekaki (drawing area), ability to upload your own audios, and with paid features that allow you to make your profile more advanced.

📎My Purpose: to build an audience on Side 7 and meet potential friends, colleagues, etc. as well as artists with similar styles and objectives to my own.

❔Why I'm there:

  1. I do not like where DeviantArt is heading with their decision to focus on artificial intelligence imagery (and I don't like that it has a bad reputation for having low-quality art despite the additional premium features that make your profile look professional) so I came to Side 7 instead.
  2. My gripe is that most of the members, despite them being friendly with me in the beginning, do not interact that much with me and when I do interact with them, they are either inactive or do not respond at all to my posts and forum inquiries (except the moderators, they are more responsive).
  3. As a result, I mostly use this account to post my art and, occasionally, journal thoughts.

Buy Me A Coffee:

an online platform that allows content creators, artists, developers, and other professionals to receive financial support from their fans, followers, or audience.

📎My Purpose: to build and find a potential audience willing to financially support me once in a while as a token of appreciation and NOT with the cynical assumption that I'll leech off of them, as well as to meet artists with similar styles and objectives to my own.

❔Why I'm there:

  1. It covers all the payment methods that are available to me besides Visa and MasterCard, unlike Ko-fi and others (although I do wish it had an art commission option similar to that of Ko-fi's)
  2. I post all my comics in the gallery section, but I wish I could easily schedule gallery posts like any other post, and have more complex formatting than just italics and bold.
  3. I do not post much on the Posts side, however, and I'm still figuring out as to what I really want to do on the membership side.

❝Why is your activity so inconsistent/slow?

I'm only one person, and I would like to treat this as both my main responsibility and my side job. Be patient.

❝I tried to contact you, you never responded?

If I didn't respond it's likely because:

  1. you ended up on Filtered notifications (Mastodon, which is out of my control due to how server moderators limit instances or individual accounts)
  2. the activity on certain platforms I'm on tends to be low, so as a result, I end up seeing your message too late
  3. you were flagged as spam or similar (unless I determine that you are actually legit. automated systems can be paranoid)
  4. your inquiry lacks substance, context, etc.
  5. I reserve the right to not respond to messages, BUT I will let you know whether you can continue to reply to me or not.
