The first stop was at a train station built by the Dutch to ride an ancient train through the countryside. It is the Ambarawa Railway Museum located at the Willem I Station which was built in 1873. The station was a place where the switched from on track gauge to another. It became a museum officially in 1976 and features a couple of buildings including the waiting room built for travelers.

Some dancers performed for us on the platform as we waited for the steam train to be ready to take us on a short ride through the countryside. We boarded a train with three restored 3rd class cars and pulled by a vintage steam engine, the newly restored B51 class 4-4-0 B5112, or a short ride to Tuntang where are buses were waiting.

We passed rice patties and smiling people as we rumbled through the countryside. Everyone was waving as we rode the seven mile stretch of track. We crossed a small lake and arrived at the small Tuntang station.
