Abu Dhabi Cultural Show

The cultural show was a troupe of five men and one woman and a separate spinning dancer. They performed on the pool deck on one side of the pool.
The group did what I think was called the Alayah or Yowla dancing. I'm not sure because there weren't as many participants as I have read about. It is referred to as the “Stick Dance.” The men simulate fighting with sticks or swords. Usually there are to groups facing each other and during the dance one side wins and then loses as the dance progresses. The girls act as cheerleaders. So four men form a line while the fifth one plays the drum. They spin and toss swords in the air. For the first half of the program they wore maroon robes.
