We recognize that many of our visitors go to other public lands sites. However, we will no longer allow them to visit any @NatlParkService, @forestservice, @ORStateParks, or @WAStatePks lands.

Policy rescinded. Going forward, there will be a vote before we ban the public from visiting their lands. Our apologies, wonโ€™t happen again.

It's not uncommon to see antelope near Duncan Reservoir, but this is the largest herd we've seen in a long time! Nestled in sagebrush rangelands, Duncan Reservoir is a great place for picnicking, camping, antelope watching, and (when it's not frozen solid) canoeing.

Rare interaction with a Giant Pacific Octopus! ๐Ÿ™ These typically shy creatures are usually only spotted a couple times a year at Cobble Beach. Rarely has one showed off like this to so many onlookers, even popping out of the water to say hello! ๐Ÿ“ธ Ranger Jesse, BLM

Cougar and bobcat spotting near Alsea, Oregon! โค We didn't mean to build a cat bridge, but we aren't complaining. These logs were placed on Mill Creek by our fisheries and hydrology teams to help restore degraded habitat. As a bonus, local cats now have a new favorite walkway.

A message from BLM Oregon & Washington.
A green text box with an antelope mascot wearing green shorts in the bottom right corner. The text reads: "America, letโ€™s talk. Over the years, weโ€™ve made a lot of changes to our beloved spokesanimal. Weโ€™re pretty sure you havenโ€™t noticed. And we definitely didnโ€™t think it would break the internet. But now we get itโ€”even an antelopeโ€™s loosely fitting cargo shorts can be polarizing.

Therefore, we have decided to take an indefinite pause from Seymour the Antelopeโ€”until he can find something a bit more stylish to wear. How about some nice slacks, Seymour? Some chinos? Have you seen Smokeyโ€™s jeans lately? Heโ€™s looking great. We are confident Seymour will champion the power of better pants to create a world where everyone can enjoy their public lands."

Happy birthday, Oregon. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š From the tallest lighthouse (Yaquina Head at 93 feet) to the deepest river gorge in the country (Hells Canyon at 7,900 feet), we love calling this place home.
A green gorge with patches of snow. A pink and blue sunset sends streaks across the sky.
A headland juts out into the ocean with the beach below. A white lighthouse sits on the headland.
    A snow-capped mountain at sunset.
Golden cliffs coming out of the green ground.

New discovery: Archaeologists from @uoregon have found evidence suggesting humans occupied an area outside of Riley, Oregon, more than 18,000 years ago! That date suggests that the area is one of the oldest sites of human occupation in North America.
