that was awkward. The pharmacist filling my prescription was none other than… a former student I wrote a letter of rec for pharmacy school! She is about to graduate with her PharmD. She said “you were my favorite professor!” as she handed me the sex drug

The academic conference moved my panel to the same time as Dr. Ally Louks’ panel. So not only can I not attend her panel (😩) but also nobody will come to my panel because they will all be at hers lol

Understand the stakes of this: Montana is full of Neo-Nazis, a veritable nest of rightwing extremism. True bravery to take this stand. Solidarity with you Montana students & faculty ✊🏼 from a former Montanan

at the store a toddler escaped their mom & hugged my leg & wouldn’t let go. The mom yelled “honey that’s not me! You can’t just hug random women!” & when she finally pried me from the kiddo’s vice grip, apologized profusely I just laughed awkwardly, “no need apologize!”

“I’m so proud of you!” I said, “& so embarrassed that this is how our paths crossed again!” “Do you want me to go over this with you?” “No, I’m good, thank you!” Still I’m so stoked for her! And laughing. Because of course.

Twitter: can you help me find this woman? She was my “Big Sister” (from Big Brothers Big Sisters) in early 2000s in Marin County, CA. She saved my life when I was an at-risk youth enduring extreme trauma and abuse. I want to tell her thank you.
Two people sit on a plaid futon couch. On the left is 11-13 year old gender-ambiguous Heather in baggy clothes next to a pile of paperwork. On the right is an adult woman with almost-shoulder length red curly hair and paperwork in her lap. Behind them is Heather’s dad’s computer set up at wheelchair-height: like Stephen Hawking, his computer talked for him after ALS took away his voice.

after my dad died (I was 12) my friend’s older brother (15) had an aggressive crush on me. He kept touching me & I told him to stop. He called me a slut. I said “I wouldn’t talk, look at your mom” (she had a new BF every week). He snapped “At least my mom is still ticking…

When I was 11 or 12 this boy would follow me around school singing the Toyota jingle at me until I would cry/meltdown because my 5 year old brother and I had been hit by a car when I was 10 and he died One day after months of bullying I snapped and bounced his face off a pole

My least favorite farm chore was cleaning out a mustang’s sheath full of encrusted smegma mixed with dust which had turned into a cement-like casing. Still gag remembering the smell. Please for the love of all things holy do not romanticize farm work.

Actually I think my story is less embarrassing than the time I was in the locker room at the university gym & a very not-shy emeritus professor struck up a conversation with me while she was totally naked

Something that haunts me: years ago my mom, an alcoholic, went to rehab to get clean. My grandparents who grew up soaked in alcohol culture —prolific partiers/socialites their entire lives —went sober in solidarity. Except it turns out they didn’t…🧵 (an essay on access)
1950s family picture of my grandpa and grandma looking dapper in black suit and black dress next to my uncle and mom as young kids, all smiling

didn’t recognize her at first… without clothes. And was like “uhhh why is this random old lady talking to me like she knows me?” Because she was my professor! & very much knew me! & felt it was the opportune time to discuss my writing

What makes this story kinda heartwarming: in the letter of rec I wrote her years ago, I stated that once she completes her degree, I would trust her to care for me and my family as her patients. If nothing else, I am true to my word! WISH IT WAS NOT FOR THIS THOUGH!!!!!

1st grade this bully named Mitch slapped & taunted an autistic friend & ripped the limbs from a baby redwood sapling my arborist dad planted at our school. So I punched him in the face. He cried & we dubbed him “Mitch the Bitch” which stuck. No more bully behavior after that!

I’m serious we should start beating people up more often. I beat up a boy when I was child and it genuinely turned his life around and made him a better person.

Feel like Rebecca Black at a music festival where the other stage of the same time slot is featuring Lady Gaga
