A lot of emphasis is placed on the reversal of the Sun's polar magnetic field and solar [sunspot] maximum. It would appear that the observations from the Wilcox Solar Observatory and the HMI instrument on SDO agree that the polar reversal has concluded.
We're proud to welcome "Space Weather Woman" Dr. Tamitha Skov (@TamithaSkov) as 1 of 3 new advisors to the @LynkerSpace team! Together with VP of Space Ops @swmcintosh, we're transforming space weather forecasting.

September Solar Cycle Progression values are officially in! Both the Sunspot & F10.7 values are down compared to August but continue to track nicely with Lynker’s Solar Cycle 25 prediction.
October is off to a fast start with Sunspot number crossing 200, will it continue?
Thanks @MatthewCappucci! We couldn't be more proud to have @swmcintosh leading Lynker Space's new state-of-the-art space weather forecasting capability for satellite operators and numerous vulnerable industries:
Your periodic reminder that, despite a NOAA/NASA forecast that dramatically underestimated the potency of Solar Cycle 25, Scott McIntosh and Bob Leamon departed *wildly* from consensus forecasts — and their bullish outlook is verifying beautifully.
The most recent example of a Geomagnetic Storm causing satellite drag was the May 2024 Gannon Storm.
The image below shows how many maneuvers satellite operators in LEO had to make in response to the sudden loss in altitude during the storm.

We're thrilled to welcome Dr. Bob Leamon (@leamonrj) as 1 of 3 new advisors to the @LynkerSpace team!
Together with VP of Space Ops @swmcintosh, we're tackling the most daunting challenges in space weather forecasting.

👻 Spooky Season! 🎃
Yesterday, on the first day of October, our Sun fired off the second largest flare of Solar Cycle 25. What else will Active Region 3842 have in store as it traverses the Earth facing disk?

While our Sun has been quiet the last week, a new Sunspot region coming over the Eastern (left) limb has produced two M-class flares within the last 24 hours. We’ll see if Active Region 3835 has anything in store as it traverses the Earth facing disk.

Our very own @swmcintosh just published a new paper ‘A Magnetohydrodynamic Mechanism for the Formation of Solar Polar Vortices".
The study highlights the importance of future missions to directly observe the Sun’s polar regions.

If you're operating in the near-earth environment, understanding the ebb and flow of solar activity is critical. @LynkerSpace VP @swmcintosh and Advisor @leamonrj developed a new model of solar activity that's been put to the stress test in the past couple of years. #Thread
