Unbelievably, our officers have just had to smash the window of a vehicle to get a dog out at the RAF museum Hendon. 31.5 degrees! JUST DON”T TAKE DOGS OUT IN THIS HEAT.

The person who left the dog in a vehicle yesterday (no, it wasn’t a Tesla on dog mode) has been reported for animal cruelty.

Please don’t let your drunk girlfriend drive a car dangerously around a @Tesco car park for fun when she has no licence/insurance. Otherwise when she crashes, police will attend and arrest her. They will also arrest you when it transpires there is a warrant for your arrest 🙄

Following a further conversation - after this clip was filmed - no ticket was issued. All officers and staff on the borough will be reminded about applying common sense and discretion where appropriate in these exceptional times.

In this instance, no further action was taken because the relevant legislation had not yet come into effect at the time of the alleged offence. This has been explained to the complainant who continues to be supported by officers.

Following media reporting about the decision to take no further action (in relation to one offence) against a 29-yr-old man arrested in Barnet on 4 July on suspicion of rape, we've been alarmed to learn that the complainant in the case has been the subject of considerable abuse.

It can take courage to come forward to police. Those who do so deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, no matter the outcome of any subsequent investigation. Any abuse, online or otherwise, is unacceptable.

A police dog handler who tweeted to help him emotionally recover after he was stabbed & his dog Finn almost killed in a knife attack in Stevenage in Oct 2016, has become the overall Winner at the independent Police Twitter Award. Well done! @Davewardell @BCHPoliceDogs #978SX
