Looking over coverage of women in ‘Irish Historical Studies’ over the years. First woman to figure was, predictably perhaps, St Brigit. Subject of an article in issue 2 (Sept. 1938).

It’ll take me most of my 30 years training as a historian to work out how he could have been either a Protestant or a former Protestant 1,000 years before there were Protestants. In another 30 years I’ll still be stuck on this one.
Ex-DUP councillor Ruth Patterson described St Patrick as a "former Protestant". Picture by Bill Smith

Disapponted by the sense in this mornings news that Arts degrees are not a good option for future employment practices. Studying Arts @ucddublin @UCDHistory best thing I ever did. Arts degrees DO NOT limit chances, rather they DO broaden horizons.

Have I got this right - we need more workers now that we don’t have enough workers because of Brexit, say the people who advocated Brexit?

This is so ill-informed - QUB doesn't even do A-level interviews. Acceptance system is central through UCAS.

    Replying to @SteveAikenUUP and @UKChange
QUB delays A Level interviews and acceptances until after other unis in GB have offered places to NI students. This means that many, who come from a unionist background, have already accepted places in GB unis, when QUB finally gets round to offering them a place - too late!

Doesn’t this just sum up how so many women from history have been and continue to be sidelined.

I very much doubt an experienced diplomat either misheard of misinterpreted what he heard. He wrote it down the very next day. It was similar to comments he had heard previously from the same source.
