    1/ Heroes - Clive So 1993 was a tough year. Mum left widowed to raise 4 kids. Hard for anyone, but different challenges for a Bangladeshi woman -lack of language, network, family and support (financial). She was on her own. But the family next door stepped in.

    8/ So much time has passed during which we have lost more loved ones. And we continue to grieve those losses. But we have also welcomed new loves ones. And we continue to love. And the painting? Still on the same wall, in the same house.

    Gate duty last week: Parent: Good morning Sir, would be be possible for us to use a classroom to do our Eid prayers next Saturday? Me: of course, I'll make sure we have a class ready. The classroom wasn't big enough.... #EidAlAdha #EidAdhaMubarak

    Over hearing some kids in Nandos. "Bruv, I can't believe you only got a 5 in Maths!" Friend replies... "Yeah bro, whatever. You were born here and only got a 3 in English so shut-up..." The group are howling.

    The gardening company wanted to charge £500 a day and said it was a two day job. "Sir, we'll do it for free." So they did, as part of the extracurricular gardening club.

    Teaching a class of 30 is very different to talking about it, writing books about it, tweeting about it, reminiscing about it and navel gazing about it. Especially if you are teaching on a full time table.
