There are almost no housing units in NYC available for under $1,500 per month according to the new Housing and Vacancy Survey. So the vast majority of New Yorkers could not afford to rent here if they lose their current unit.

Upon receiving the news that four of the City's Deputy Mayors have submitted their resignations, I sent the following letter to @NYCMayor.    If Mayor Adams cannot provide a contingency plan to the 8 million New Yorkers who rely on City services to function, I will seek to

BIG NEWS in the legal fight to reinstate congestion pricing. There is officially a court date. On September 27, attorneys representing both sides will present their arguments before a judge in the Riders Alliance v. Hochul and City Club of New York v. Hochul cases.

This morning, my team uncovered that President Trump and his crony Elon Musk illegally seized $80M in congressionally-appropriated FEMA funding from NYC bank accounts. @realDonaldTrump and @elonmusk stole tens of millions of dollars straight from our bank accounts--this is

At the heart of @realDonaldTrump's cruel immigration policies are warrantless, plain-clothed ICE agents who hide behind masks. That's why I'm proud to support @tonysimone's bill to stop ICE from operating in the shadows and bring accountability to the agency.

The extraordinary surge in median asking rents continued last month. Over the last 12 months median asking rents in New York City have risen by *29%*. This is a housing crisis.

26 Federal Plaza is not a courthouse. It's an abduction trap—and a makeshift jail where asylum seekers are held for days in overcrowded, unsanitary conditions on the 10th floor. @nycpa and I are demanding an investigation into whether this de facto jail violates zoning laws.

Brad Lander and Jumaane Williams are calling on the Buildings and Fire commissioners to see if a makeshift jail inside 26 Federal Plaza is up to the city’s standards. DOB says it doesn’t have the authority to do that. thecity.nyc/2025/07/23/26-…

.@GovKathyHochul will lift the pause on the implementation of congestion pricing! This is a long-awaited win for millions of hard-working straphangers who ride the subway every day. New Yorkers will finally see less traffic, cleaner air, modernized subway signals so trains run

The funeral for 15 of the victims of the Bronx fire this morning was heartbreaking.

The Imam demanded that we look squarely on their caskets, on the inequality that caused their deaths, and pledge real action to honor their humanity.

We’ve already waited 15 years. Delaying congestion pricing will derail our chance to create a modern, accessible transit system. It will deprive our city of cleaner air, safer streets and a more thriving economy. We can’t let short-term politics derail broad long-term benefits.

Handcuffing Maria in front of her daughter for selling fruit does nothing to make our city safer.

Criminalizing street vendors is a terrible use of resources, especially at a time when we should be expanding licenses & efforts to help entrepreneurs support their families.

Horrific treatment of Maria, a mother, immigrant entrepreneur & her *daughter* who filmed Earlier this week, Maria was arrested for selling mangoes & kiwis to customers she's served for 10+ yrs Shame on our city for choosing cruelty, instead of supporting hardworking mothers

Making sure New Yorkers feel & are safe riding the subway is critical to our recovery. However, there is little evidence to suggest that increasing the presence of police officers in our subways will meaningfully break the cycle of homelessness, hospitalization, & incarceration.

Today, New York should have implemented congestion pricing. Instead of investments for on-time trains & accessible stations, working New Yorkers will face preventable subway delays, worsening gridlock, air quality alerts, & MTA service cuts.
