    Good morning. Here is a shorter thread on the press conference I attended with @HEBobiwine about the conditions of his detention and his plans, hampered as they are by his confinement. This is a portion when his wife Barbie spoke about how they were coping.

    Attended a press conference yesterday (online) given by @HEBobiwine and his wife Barbie Kyagulani. It lasted nearly an hour and was also addressed by his US based lawyer Mr. Bruce Afran. I will tweet a thread of his views on what happens next soon. He is under house arrest.

    Guys, so I am trying to order an uber and guy next to me (suit no tie, glasses at City Oil Kamwokya) says on the phone “Doctor you mean to tell me you have switched off oxygen from my child because I don’t have 260 thousand? Lost him in the uber drama but what is that? Doctors?

    Came to grab a drink and cheer ⁦@mama_d256⁩ in her Guinness World Record try. She has been bravely and cheerfully cooking since Saturday (Happy Birthday in advance). Many supporters and volunteers here ⁦@wekesa_amos⁩ now we need a live band. #Uganda #NaijaOnNotice

    There has been a sad/predictable arrest of @nickopiyo my colleague and our director @chapterfourug. Nicholas is incomparable in his passion & commitment to human rights of anyone regardless of their background. We will do for him what he would for others and obtain his freedom.

    While strolling about in cold Oxford looking for warm clothing and signs of old empire I bump into ⁦@kizzabesigye1⁩. A pleasant surprise and the best roadside chat ( he dressed warmer because he knows the this town well since ⁦@Winnie_Byanyima⁩ was based here 😉

    Fellow Ugandans, the current spike in fuel prices has nothing to do with economics. It was caused by a temporary exogenous shock caused by administrative decisions to control the spread of #COVID19, here & globally. The responsible parties are addressing them. Soon prices settle.

    On June 1, spent my first day as director at ⁦@ugandainvest⁩ and sent my first email on investment matters. I thank those who provided encouragement. Occasionally I will be raising matters on the economy here mostly focused on support for local investors and domestic labor.
