You should be writing longer form tweets. Period. I'm not going to be one of those Twitter Bros with my 850-person account telling you how to grow to be massive, but here's what I've seen. Let me explain... @pauldm tagged me in a comment and asked what I'd seen, so I started

One of the best business lessons I’ve ever gotten came from video game streamer @NICKMERCS. “I eat, we all eat!” Nick was streaming and his squad had just won like $50k in a Warzone tournament. The whole stream turned into a massive party - music, Nick was going off, chat was

This was embarrassing to watch. Imagine, this is a company worth trillions. I’d fire everyone in marketing.

Genuine question - why are large sites like New York Magazine, CNN, Tom’s Guide, CNET, Forbes, and Business Insider not deemed unhelpful in the extreme when they write unrelated content purely targeting search engines. Let me give you my logic. Presumably Google ranks these

Google has a "big publisher" problem and I think based on what I've seen from @searchliaison recently... they know it. Being the generous soul that I am, I have a potential solution. Let's call it the "Magazine Stand Update". I'll start by framing the situation. Right now,

I appreciate that reply because the last point is transparent and honest, that's fair play to you. I think large sites should have to adhere to stricter topical authority guardrails than average sites because their link profiles over time and generally perceived level of

Super strange experience today. In two different work meetings, “normies” who know nothing about SEO complained about Google Search. One woman said that everything essentially above the fold on her phone now seems to be an ad. The other person said that if they wanted to go

You should go look at Lifestage to see how well FB builds copycat social media companies. They’ve tried to copy Snapchat four times and failed miserably. Or Facebook Gaming’s attempt to be Twitch… LOL. Etc, etc, etc… FB knows how to inject ads. That’s it.

Dan reached out to me by cold DM. Someone is teaching these muppets this shit and I’d like to know who it is. Anyway, I asked Dan to backup his claims… worth reading the screenshots. I’m improving my replies.

This is one of the most savage and well-written takedowns of Google I've seen in a long time. I would have been proud to write something this well-researched and articulate - this is @ViperChill level quality analysis. This clearly demonstrates that when @searchliaison

I'm so bored of productivity pimps and framework junkies. How many frameworks do you need to run your day? If half of what you read on Twitter were true, some people spend three-quarters of their day following a framework and the other 25% creating new ones. The reality is...

This is an exceptional thread and conversation that @natejhake started. In essence, Google took his images (some including him!) and his content, created snippets out of it in SERPs and basically generated a scenario where a search user doesn’t even have to go to his site to get

I appreciate your thoughts and concerns. I do. The intention overall is to make search better, which includes ensuring people do indeed continue to the open web -- because we know for us to thrive, the open web needs to thrive. But I can also appreciate that this might not seem

Here's another thing for folks suffering with the HCU from Google. Stop anthropomorphizing the Google algorithms. Google is a series of machine-learning algorithms... very smart algorithms. But algorithms just the same. Google doesn't "know" what "helpful content" is. Google
