NEW: I led a letter to Republican House leadership opposing a provision in the reconciliation bill that would impose a 10-year moratorium on state and local AI regulation. 50+ state legislators signed on. NY House Republicans cannot support this.

I cannot in good conscience support this proposal. I refuse to bail out the Governor, and I refuse to jeopardize funding for medicaid, disability benefits, universal childcare and more and more in next year’s budget. Our neighbors deserve fresh air and functioning public transit.

New: Source says the legislature is expected vote on a bill as soon as tonight that would commit $1B in state funding for the MTA. Legislature and gov are working towards a deal. Money would come from general fund/bonded out - still unclear.

Last year the NYPD spent $155 million in overtime to enforce $104,000 worth of skipped fares. Last week, Gregory Delpeche was shot as a bystander and pronounced brain dead. Broken windows policing doesn’t work, it endangers whole communities. Enough is enough.
