“It’s like a cramp on your whole body.” Our eight new officers are going through Field Training and today’s lesson brought some pain. Wheat Ridge PD officers are equipped with TASERs and should know how it feels to use that type of force out in the field.

While this portion isn’t mandatory, all eight of them elected to get tased today. The group pushed through the pain and got a great perspective on the tools we use, underscoring our commitment to training.

A voice calling for help. That’s what caught the attention of a passerby Saturday night in Wheat Ridge- and led rescuers to a man trapped at the bottom of a 15-foot trench. The passerby found the man in a construction zone near N. Crossing Drive and Clear Creek Drive and flagged

As we head into another hot summer weekend, we need to bring down the temperature on our roads. On Wednesday, the Wheat Ridge Police Department got a call for a road rage situation on I-70 westbound approaching W 32nd Ave.

This situation was downright dangerous and these two are lucky they didn’t get hit on the highway. Keep your cool on our roads.

We continue to see progress on property crimes and an overall decrease in crime in Wheat Ridge this year. Our commitment to sharing monthly activity wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of our Crime Analyst & Administrative Program Coordinator who put this report together.
A graphic that shows the latest crime trends in Wheat Ridge for both persons and property crimes and compares the latest month to monthly levels over the past five years and the year prior to show if that crime category is relatively high or low. If you would like an accessible version of this document, please contact arose@wheatridge.gov.

We connect victims with our partners at Victim Outreach Incorporated, and advocates are by their side every step of the way. We also have tremendous resources at The Family Tree and PorchLight Family Justice Center that provide services for these victims.

All this being said, we can’t solve crimes we don’t know about. If you see something, say something and call 911. Thank you for caring about our community as much as we do, so we can continue to make Wheat Ridge one of the safest communities in Colorado.
