Marble quarries are really one of those sites that really do look like they were taken from a sci-fi fantasy book. These are from the Danbury quarry in Vermont.

Franz Xaver Messerschmidt is a sculpture from the mid 1700's whose work looks remarkably modern.

Years ago it was pointed out to me that granite degrades at an incredible slow rate, so its entirely possible that in a thousand years after a neighborhood is abandoned the last evidence of its existence will be 200 granite counter tops just lying on the forest floor.

For me, the top one is Ventilation Shut Down Plus. Where you seal the exits for air, set up heaters, and then induce dehydration & heat stroke by the millions.

The Seattle Public Library book sale. It was the public library and lots of Seattlites donating books they had read or weren't using anymore. It had existed for as long as I lived out here. Technically it died of Covid, but in reality it was killed by changing social norms.

Years ago was reading about why New Sweden colony failed in New Jersey, and one of the most basic points that was Sweden in 1600 had a population of 1,000,000 people total. Like what level of resources can you realistic access and use if there are only a million of you.

Its really heavy, and transportation costs is a thing. Also talk about fantastic historical marketing for your product. Like seriously you get the Michelangelo to market your product for you.
