If half of scientific fields are accelerated 5x by AI and half aren’t, is that better or worse than if all fields are accelerated 3x? And how should you allocate resources in that scenario to maximize discovery? Proportionally? More to the accelerated fields given their potential

RFK Jr. has proposed directing 20% of the NIH’s budget to replication. That would be orders of magnitude more than we’ve ever allocated to biomedical replication. How much should we actually spend? And how do we ensure the money is well spent? With @IFP, I investigated the ROI

Duncan Watts (@duncanjwatts), a sociologist and a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, has a great quote that I think speaks to this need:

The exponential growth of scientific papers is muddling the research process, making it harder for important fields to advance. In @statnews today, @jhjelliott and I argue that funding living evidence synthesis could help: statnews.com/2023/03/27/str… 1/7

I'm really excited to finally have this preprint out in the world. I won't try to improve upon @DaniSBassett's excellent summary thread, but I do want to take a minute to thank a few people who paved the way for this work to exist

New from @jddwor Extent & drivers of gender imbalance in neuroscience reference lists tinyurl.com/yfw26jy2. w/ @Penn_SIVE, @perryzurn, Teich, Linn. Covering issues of bias, ethics, & social behavior vital to all fields grappling with their own visions of an equitable future.

This year's @ICSSIConference showcased the transformative potential of the science-of-science community. To channel that energy and kickstart new interdisciplinary collaborations, @KelloggCSSI and I ran the first Metascience Hackathon

Excited to finally share this work! @DaniSBassett, @Penn_SIVE, and I look at the the network structure of neuroimaging research, and discuss how the field has changed over the past 10 years. And check out goo.gl/EPd3qj to play with the network yourself! (pw: NeuroIm10)

@ProbCausation is exactly this for econ papers on law/crime, and it's fantastic. I keep hoping other fields will pick up the format but I haven't found anything quite like it yet
