My thanks to you for ensuring women survivors have a place of safety to access the counselling they need. It shouldn’t have been needed but it was - you recognised this and stepped in 🙏
Run by women, for women, I had the privilege of visiting Beira's Place when it first opened, during my time as a West Lothian councillor. It provides a safe, compassionate, and supportive environment for survivors of sexual violence.
Myself and @tracygilbert72 have written to the National Librarian with our concerns re the censorship of The Women Who Wouldn’t Wheesht from the Dear Library exhibition. Libraries are places of learning & expression, not for closing down perfectly valid opinions & experiences
Absolutely ridiculous - censoring a book that gives detailed accounts of women who have been unjustly censored!
I’ve had my copy since day 1 - if you’ve still to read it, now’s the time to buy!
Can't say we expected the book to be front page news the week of Nicola Sturgeon's book launch. I'd rather it was because of all its relevant content. But here we are.
Defy the censorious staff network and awful management of the NLS, and buy the book.

Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill
After careful consideration & hearing from many constituents & experts, I have decided that I cannot support the Bill. I am sympathetic to the principle of assisted dying but must vote on the Bill as it stands.
My full statement below:
When the SNP lose the election there will be a return to focusing on the things that matter to people in everyday life such as the public services they rely on. Happy days!
SNP MP Tommy Sheppard has a blunt message to the party's supporters: "If the SNP lose the election in Scotland, the debate on independence stops".
A line I'm sure other parties will be happy to repeat on the doorsteps.
We are quoted in this front page @heraldscotland story. Having previously provided assurance that biological sex will always be recorded in cases of rape, Police Scotland has now stated it does not have a policy and takes a case-by-case approach.

I thought we had moved on from this but women continue to be censored, not just the authors, but those who nominated this book to go into the exhibition!
If you think Scotland’s cultural elite can’t get any more stupid, think again. The Women Who Wouldn’t Wheesht has been banned from the National Library’s centenary exhibition, despite winning a place, because it was deemed harmful by some staff. Blatant censorship.
First Minister is striking the wrong tone here. I’ve had many people contact me with huge concerns re the vaccination rollout, some in higher priority groups still awaiting vaccines whilst others lower down the priority groups have receive theirs. It is causing much stress! #FMQs
Well said @PreetKGillMP Denouncing women as bigots, women who rightfully raised concerns & reminded others of our rights, is why the matter turned into such a debacle in Scotland and why we see so many cases now play out in the courts.
The Supreme Court makes clear that in the context of the Equality Act, sex means biological sex. That is now settled law, and as lawmakers and public servants, we have a duty to respect and uphold it. 🧵
The Scottish Government was warned year after year and here we are, a black hole in Scotland’s public finances of their own making, resulting in yet more cuts. And still the finger pointing continues.
Policies must be paid for, nothing is free.
What an amazing morning, just incredible to meet the new Prime Minister at No 10 and hear him talk about the importance of Scotland to the new government. A very proud moment with everyone committed to speaking up for our constituents. That’s why we’re here.
