I had this exact same experience. USAJobs basically acts as a black box in between hiring managers and applicants. I was told directly by the person who *wanted to hire me* that they couldn’t pull my resume unless I made it into the “most qualified” pool
TSMCs advantages boil down to:
1. Taiwanese Industrial Policy
2. Incredible customer service
3. Intel fucking up EUV because of Wall Street
It’s not actually a particularly well run company except for 2.
It’s really unpopular to say this, but members of congress are underpaid and need a raise. Their salaries have not increased in 15 years, and that’s before accounting for inflation.

Honestly this might be worse than if they’d just won the monopolization case. The message now is “even if you illegally monopolize an industry, and get caught, there are no consequences”
Whoa: Google lost the search antitrust case a while back, but just resoundingly won the remedies phase. They can continue doing all of the stuff the court found unlawful, but with some minor new data sharing obligations limiting search default payoffs to 1-year terms.

Fixing the cost of elevators is one of those super-nerdy but high impact policies that somebody needs to take up. We need “Elevator Guy” like how @holz_bau is for PaB’s, or the menswear guy.
Harmonic reducers are a great example of China moving into precision components for robotics—at a fraction of the cost.

It’s not like they get nothing for all that effort btw, it’s just not as much as you would expect, and even what they get is largely only sustainable because the Taiwanese government deliberately creates an environment where they have the power to do whatever they want.
