- Replying to @turrible_taoPeople underestimate how much this is the case for pretty much any non-english language. america won the culture war
- Replying to @idavidreinit’s just a memetic counterweight to “a system produces bad outcomes but its intentions were pure so everything’s ok”. equally as inaccurate but i guess that’s how these games are played.
- Replying to @cis_femaleanything that requires regular effort from the consumers is unworkable. the only way around it is to remove the “regular effort” element. tesla powerwall is quite popular.
- Replying to @flawedaxiomsit is remarkable how difficult it’s become to get gpt4-turbo to mirror someone’s style. a clear regression. i’m curious if that was intentional.
- Replying to @ptrschmdtnlsn.@ID_AA_Carmack wrote some stuff about making oculus devices fast while running android. and while I’m still not happy with the Oculus Quest’s UI performance, the games are super snappy

- Agreed. During the last 5ish years there were many times where I thought “but surely we can solve AI safety with X… ah fuck that doesn’t work”. Without those experiences I wouldn’t be nearly as doom-ish as I am.Replying to @ArthurB @ESYudkowsky and @davidchalmers42... and that reaction is perfectly normal. The argument is extremely compelling when you've read a lot about it and sat with it for over a decade, but it's easy to forget that journey and think people should just "get it", at least for me it can be.

It's trade deficit divided by their exports. EU: exports 531.6, imports 333.4, deficit 198.2. 198.2/531.6 is 37, close to 39. Israel: exports 22.2, imports 14.8, deficit 7.4. 7.4/22.2 is 33.
