    When you’re grumpy because you drank your milk too quickly and the keeper doesn't have anymore 😻 Our vet & Animal Care staff are now working on building up her strength so she can explore her outdoor hospital stall. We’ll keep you “cub-dated” on this fuzzy little fighter.

    We are happy to report that Holly the rescued orphaned mtn lion continues to improve. She is much feistier, and has also started eating for us! Our vets remain cautiously optimistic, but she is still under intensive care treatment. We'll keep you posted on this little one ❤️

    After years of being deprived of enrichment at the roadside zoo she was rescued from, Mia's first interaction with a ball at our Vet Hospital is caught on camera thanks to Keeper Nikki. We think it's safe to say she likes it.

    Holly Update! 😺 Our girl is gaining weight, no longer receiving ICU treatments, and getting stronger every day! She's hitting all her benchmarks, which is a great sign for her recovery. Check out this cat nap video by Keeper Nikki.

    The orphaned mtn lion rescued from the #ZoggFire has a name: Captain Cal....named after @CAL_FIRE's mascot. Our vet staff is treating Captain Cal's injured feet today. He's been eating & looks much better than he did when he arrived. We'll keep you posted on how he's doing!

    The reports about any of our animals being outside of the Zoo are FALSE. The FALSE report was given by a bus driver to the Alameda County Sheriff. Thank you all for your concern and have a safe night!

    Good morning sleepyheads! The brown bears have risen from their annual slumber (known as torpor) and can once again be seen swimming, wrestling, enjoying the sun, and generally being the big loveable floofs we love. The black bears are still sleeping but will be up soon 🐻

    Holly with the fierceness! This mountain lion behavior is exactly the kind we want to see. In addition, she's eating, investigating her new stall, and in true cat fashion, taking naps as she builds her strength. Stay tuned for more updates on her progress. 🎥: Keeper Angela

    Hazel CUBdate: this orphaned mtn lion is learning to eat on her own, currently small amounts 5x/day. She still has her IV in, but that could come out soon. She’s not “in the clear” yet, but eating on her own is a big step in the right direction. 😻 video: Keeper Amber

    CUBdate: the 3 rescued orphaned kittens Spruce, Fern, and Thistle, are doing well at our vet hospital, under the watchful eye of their extended care team. All 3 have gained some weight -- and that's a good thing! Fern, you may recall, wasn't doing so well last week. She tested
