Every kid in the US learns of the Great Chicago Fire (2,112 acres) in school and how modern building codes & fire depts have made this impossible, yet both the 2023 Lahaina & the current Palisades Fire crossed 17,000 acres - 8x the size! I marked up a map of Chicago to compare.

Wait, so instead of just making it in China they brought Chinese workers to Italy… presumably so they could claim "made in Italy"?!? Isn't the whole point of "made in Italy" is that it is by some 12th generation handbag maker or some such nonsense?

In addition to the 17,234 acre Palisades Fire, LA currently has: - Eaton Fire: 10,600 acres (16.5 sq miles) - Hurst Fire: 855 acres (1.33 sq miles) - Lidia Fire: 348 acres (0.54 sq miles) - Sunset Fire: 43 acres (0.067 sq miles)

The most insane part is when you talk to their excavation, plumbing/pvc, rebar, concrete, aggregate, decking, & tile subs, you realize they all total up to about 20% of the bid. Equipment+installation and finishing is another 10%. WC+insurance another 7-10%. ~60% is profit.
