4. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract: to provide your account and the features you request, and to deliver sponsorships you buy.
- Consent: for analytics cookies, advertising cookies (including personalized ads), marketing popups that use non-essential cookies, and newsletters. You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 8). Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before you withdrew it.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the Site secure, prevent abuse, moderate reviews and submissions, respond to messages, and understand basic Site performance. We balance these interests against your rights.
- Legal obligation: to keep records required by law and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
5. Advertising and Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to show ads on the Site. Google and other ad vendors may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses and similar identifiers to serve and measure ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Ads Settings (https://adssettings.google.com).
- You may opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices. Visitors in Europe can also use www.youronlinechoices.eu.
To learn more, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Google’s own privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
If you opt out of personalized advertising, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you (for example, based on the page you are reading or your general location). Ads shown by Google AdSense are not endorsements by AIMAPER.
6. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, installed through the MonsterInsights plugin, to understand how visitors find and use the Site, such as which pages are popular and how long visits last. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as pages visited, device information, approximate location and interactions. We use this information in aggregated form and do not use it to identify you personally.
In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies are only set after you give consent. You can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Learn more at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Local storage is a similar browser feature that stores information on your device. We use them in the categories below. The specific names of cookies can change over time, so this list describes categories rather than every individual cookie.
7.1 Strictly necessary
- Purpose: keep you signed in, protect forms from spam, remember your consent choices, and keep the Site secure.
- Set by: AIMAPER (WordPress and our plugins) and our consent management platform.
- Duration: session to about 12 months.
- Consent needed: no. These are required for the Site to work.
7.2 Preferences and functionality
- Purpose: remember settings such as bookmarks, likes, display choices and whether you have closed a popup. Some of this is stored in your browser’s local storage.
- Set by: AIMAPER and OptinMonster.
- Duration: session to about 12 months, or until you clear your browser storage.
7.3 Analytics
- Purpose: measure visits and usage to improve the Site.
- Set by: Google Analytics (via MonsterInsights) and OptinMonster (to measure popup performance).
- Duration: up to about 2 years.
- Consent needed: yes, in the EEA, UK and Switzerland.
7.4 Advertising
- Purpose: show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and, where you allow it, personalize ads.
- Set by: Google AdSense and Google’s advertising partners.
- Duration: up to about 13 months, depending on the vendor.
- Consent needed: yes, in the EEA, UK and Switzerland.
7.5 Third-party content
- Purpose: load fonts used on the Site from Google Fonts. When your browser loads these fonts, Google receives your IP address and browser information.
- Set by: Google.
You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, some features, such as signing in, may not work.
8. Consent and How to Change Your Choices
Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform when they first visit. You can accept, reject or manage your choices for analytics and advertising. Non-essential cookies are not set until you agree.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by using the “Privacy and cookie settings” link in the Site footer, or by clearing cookies for aimaper.com in your browser, which will show the consent message again. You can also use the opt-out links in sections 5 and 6.
9. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only as described below:
- Service providers who help us run the Site, including our web hosting provider, Google (AdSense, Analytics and Fonts), OptinMonster, WPForms, our email delivery provider used through WP Mail SMTP, and our payment provider for sponsorships. They may only use the information to provide services to us or as described in their own privacy policies.
- Advertising partners, as described in section 5.
- Public content: your display name and the ratings you leave may be visible to other visitors. Information in a tool submission (such as the tool’s name, description and website) may be published on the Site. Your email address is not published.
- Legal reasons: if required by law, court order or a lawful request from authorities, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
- Business changes: if the Site is sold or transferred, information may be transferred to the new owner, who will be bound by this policy or a policy that is at least as protective.
10. Outbound Links and UTM Parameters
Tool listings include “Visit Website” links to the tool makers’ websites. Some of these links include tracking parameters (such as utm_source=aimaper) so that the destination site can see that you came from AIMAPER. These parameters do not contain your name, email address or other personal details. Once you leave our Site, the destination website’s own privacy policy applies.
11. Data Retention
- Account data, bookmarks, likes and ratings: kept while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize this data within 30 days, except where we must keep it for legal reasons.
- Unverified accounts and verification codes: verification codes expire shortly after they are sent. Accounts that are never verified may be deleted after 12 months.
- Contact form messages and emails: up to 24 months after our last exchange.
- Tool submissions: for as long as the listing is published, and up to 24 months after a submission is declined or a listing is removed.
- Sponsorship and billing records: as long as required by applicable tax and accounting laws.
- Newsletter sign-ups: until you unsubscribe.
- Google Analytics data: kept according to the retention setting in our Google Analytics account (currently 14 months).
- Server and security logs: usually up to 90 days.
12. International Data Transfers
We are based in Jordan, and our service providers, including Google, may process data in the United States and other countries. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for transfers, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions, including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where a provider participates in it.
13. Your Rights
13.1 EEA, UK and Switzerland
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delete your data.
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests and direct marketing.
- Data portability (receive your data in a commonly used format).
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Complain to your local data protection authority.
13.2 California and other US states
If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law (such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia or Texas), you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information or its use for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. However, the use of advertising cookies by Google and its partners may count as “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under some state laws. You can opt out by using the opt-out links in section 5, by adjusting your cookie choices, or by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser. We will not discriminate against you for using your rights.
13.3 How to make a request
Email contact@aimaper.com or use our contact form. We may need to confirm your identity before we act, for example by asking you to reply from the email address linked to your account. We aim to respond within 30 days. You may also delete your account at any time by contacting us. An authorized agent may make a request on your behalf if they can show that you have authorized them.
14. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and accounts are not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA, UK and Switzerland). If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
15. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, limited access to admin areas and regular software updates. No website or online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password for your account.
16. Third-Party Websites
The Site links to many third-party websites, including AI tools, ads and sponsored listings. We do not control these websites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their privacy policies before giving them any personal information.
17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will give more noticeable notice, such as a notice on the Site or an email to registered users.
