Government forms FAQ
Can DocSpring fill VA Form 21-526EZ and other VA claim forms?
Yes. Upload the VA's PDF, map its fields once, and fill it from your data through the API. The same template works for every veteran you help, and fields like Social Security numbers can be split into one character per box.
Can I fill a whole claim package from one set of data?
Yes. Send the same veteran's data to each template, such as the 21-526EZ, 21-4138 and 21-4142, then combine the filled PDFs into one file.
Can veterans and applicants complete and sign forms online?
Yes, with Data Requests. They open a hosted or embedded form, add anything that's missing and sign, and DocSpring fills the PDF with an audit trail. Check each agency's rules on electronic signatures before you submit a form signed this way.
What happens when an agency releases a new version of a form?
Upload the new PDF to the same template and adjust any fields that moved. If the field names stay the same, your code doesn't need to change.
Can I fill any official PDF from an agency website?
Most agency PDFs work, whether they have fillable fields or are flat scans. Some are dynamic XFA forms, which show a "Please wait" message instead of the form in most PDF viewers, and DocSpring can't fill those. DocSpring also doesn't keep the barcodes that some forms print in their footer.
Can DocSpring fill permit and license applications?
Yes. Upload each city's or state's form once and fill it with project or business details from your platform. With a template for each form, you can support every jurisdiction your customers work in.
Is DocSpring secure enough for government work?
DocSpring has completed a SOC 2 Type II audit, and you can request the report through our Trust Portal. Submission data is encrypted at rest, and you choose US or EU data residency. If your documents can't leave your own servers, we offer self-hosted enterprise licenses.
