As far as I see this community isn't very active but I'm still going to ask you. I have to organise a computer-based video surveillance system. Thing is that I need to use multiple sources (cameras) with 20-30+ meters cables. I know for sure that my software Xeoma does support use of multiple sources but I'm not sure whether usb hubs and such long cables will still output any signals from my far-away cams. Is there a way to find it out (apart from actually trying it?)
i have a facebook-related question. i have so many videos that i want/need to upload to facebook, everytime i try to upload one, even one that's only a minute long, it tells me that it's going to take HOURS to upload. and sometimes if i try waiting it out, the video just stops uploading altogether.
so i was just wondering if there is any other way to go about uploading videos to facebook that WON'T take half a day to upload. also keep in mind; i have no idea how to use any video editing programs.
Fixed!
Question/Problem: A couple weeks ago, my audio and video stopped working. Itune's wont work, I can hit play but then it just stalls and doesn't progress. And videos just freeze over and over and no sound is coming from anything. I got a memory error message one time and showed the pic of it below. Everything is going slower. Please help! Thank you!
Hello all, hope you can help me with this problem.
I have a Dell Latitude D820 laptop, running Windows Vista Ultimate that I've had for about 2 and a half years. For the past 8 or 9 months, there have been quite a few problems with video playback. Namely, whenever I try to play any type of video, it will run fine for about 5-10 minutes before skipping and halting. This skipping and halting applies itself to the entire operating system (even the mouse doesn't move right) and I have to turn off the computer manually.
This happens with every kind of video I play: streaming, Youtube, DVDs (Regions 1 and 2), everything. My DVD playing software is usually Windows Media Player, but I've tried Windows Media Center too and the same problem occurs. And I've tried many, many DVDs, some brand new, and this problem still occurs.
I've run a virus and adware scan and come up with nothing, but I doubt it would have anything to do with the problem anyway: it started before my computer was ever connected to the Internet. I thought maybe it had to do with the fact I didn't have much memory left on my computer, but I deleted a good 22 gb off my harddrive and the problem still occurs.
This is REALLY a pain because I love watching videos, and the fact that I absolutely cannot do it drives me insane. Hope someone can help and thanks in advance!
EDIT: Forgot to add that I replaced the DVD drive as well and it did not help at all.
Question/Problem: Since installing VLC on Windows 7, I'm experiencing grain and pixelation in video files while using the latest VLC, and the latest graphics drivers for my card (as far as I know, I was sure Windows 7 installed them) .
I can provide screenshots if necessary. I know it isn't the video files as I have tried playing DVD's, very crisp/clear .avi's I had used prior to reformatting (worked fine on XP with VLC). It seems to only be fullscreen. If it helps, my resolution is 1680x1050 WS and prior to that, I had used older Nvidia drivers so I would be able to use 1440x900 since the refresh rate could go up to 75hz (60hz hurts my eyes).

Your level of experience (we simplify or explain instructions based on how you answer): (Beginner, Intermediate, Seasoned, Expert, God) Beginner/intermediate. I know my way around my PC but Win7 is new to me.
When did the problem start? Has it been going on constantly since then? The problem started two days ago, after I reformatted and installed Windows 7.
Any steps you've taken to troubleshoot? I've followed suggestions on the VLC forums for changing the output but it didn't do a thing that I noticed. Willing to try again incase I'm doing it wrong. I've installed previous versions of VLC, finding that 0.8.2 works fine except for the fact that it turns off Aero and makes me use the basic Windows 7 theme, which severely lags/slows down my PC.

No error message, but afaik, this seems to be a common problem with the new VLC, Win7 and ATI and/or NVIDIA graphics card users. I'm using Media Player Classic atm but I miss VLC--was great for DVD's, avi's etc D:
Hi, dear friends! I have Windows Vista operation system and use msn and videocamera. Accidentally, Windows Live parental control turned on, and due to it my camera can't work appropriately.. Please tell me, how can I turn off this Parental control? Thanks in advance!
Question/Problem: I've set up VLC media player on my CentOS 5 Linux running laptop. For some reason when I try to play a video (mainly .avi files; I haven't tried any other kinds of files) it only plays the audio and leaves me with a blank screen. Does anyone know what is wrong and how I can make the application display the video part of the .avi file?

Question/Problem: i am looking to hook up my laptop [dell inspiron 1721] to a television in my classroom... basically, to use the tv as a clone of my monitor. i would like to have audio and video. however, the tv that i have is old [zenith, 1992-ish], so it does not have an s-video port. i bought a dynex mini-to-rca stereo audio/video cable at best buy, and they told me that it should work for what i'm trying to do... it plugs into my headphone jack on my computer, which seems odd to me. i'm having no luck trying it on my home tv. there were no instructions in the cable packaging... is there some sort of on-computer setup i should be doing?

I'm not really good with computers, and I just wanted to see if this idea I had would work.
I have a lot of long videos (about 300mb or more) saved to my computer, and I'm starting to get worried about running out of memory on my laptop. But I do watch the videos a lot and I want to save them somehow. My idea was to save them to multiple discs, and then when I wanted to watch one, put the disc into my computer and open the file. My question is...will that work? (I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question, but I'm confused and people at this community have helped me before so I decided to try!)

Did you ever find a program, I am in the same boat at the moment, although I have managed to intercept the MCL data stream and trying to code for this.
