My name is Ana Inês Antunes. I am certified by the Ethology Institute in Applied Canine Ethology and Professional Dog Training, and certified by the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers & Behaviour in Behaviour Consultation.
I have worked with animals for over 18 years, in both clinical and behavioural settings, helping countless families, guardians and their four-legged companions to live in harmony.
Dog Factor was founded largely thanks to my dog, Django, who became the inspiration for embracing this project and my mission: to strengthen the natural connection between guardian and dog through authentic communication, grounded in mutual respect and a deep understanding of the individual and emotional needs of the canine species.
I worked for 12 years as a Veterinary Assistant, where I developed skills and knowledge in both nursing care and low-stress handling of dogs and cats. I continued my studies by undertaking specialised training in animal behaviour and welfare, as well as participating in various seminars, workshops, talks, webinars, conferences and extensive independent research.
I volunteered at Lisbon Zoo, where I had the pleasure of assisting the herbivore keepers with their daily tasks involving rhinoceroses, camels, giraffes, among others. I also observed and helped care for okapis during the breeding season.
My approach, centred on the wellbeing of both dog and guardian, is grounded in scientific knowledge across different fields (Ethology, Behaviourism, Biology and Neuroscience), combined with a holistic perspective and a natural, deep connection with dogs. I do not use abusive tools or force that causes pain or suffering, always prioritising animal welfare.
I see each dog as a unique being, with their own history, personality and way of communicating. Over the years, I have developed a more natural way of communicating, respecting their pace, language and nature.
