The Friday Five
18 October 2024 11:31 amOn time this week,
thefridayfive for 18 October 2024
1. What's a song you'd enjoy screaming along to as you drove down the highway?
I... wouldn't? I genuinely don't enjoy screaming, driving, or highways. Vibing to Talking Heads' "This Must Be the Place" or The Postal Service's "Such Great Heights" in the passenger seat on a late-night cruise through the city is much more my pace.
2. What is your favorite place/type of environment to relax?
I feel most at ease in quiet places. Years ago, I could relax in NY coffee shops, museums, bookstores, libraries, and parks. Now I prefer being alone at home.
3. What are the best kind of dreams?
Vivid, fantastical dreams that follow a story or immerse me in a different world. They inspire me creatively.
4. What do you look for in a mate?
Empathy, creativity, and depth. Someone I can message out of the blue with a random question and receive a thoughtful answer.
5. If you were a crayon color, what color would you be and why?
I'm probably one of the crayons that melted a little onto the nearby crayons so that we all carry flecks of each other's colors. (That, and I don't remember any crayon colors except cerulean. The word fascinated me as a kid and I wanted to learn how to pronounce it.)

Date: 18 Oct 2024 05:58 pm (UTC)I also sometimes wrote songs I made up in my dreams. One dream in particular inspired one of my most recent ones (Which is still old... And not really good.), as in the background of the dream a narrator / singer sung "Abschied brauchen~", which is like, "Needing farewell~", so... Yeah.
"Empathy, creativity, and depth" << THIS. I also really value curiosity. :) The more curious others are about the surrounding world and how it functions and so on, the more I really tend to discover about other people, and even though I don't like having the feeling of knowing everything about another person (I hate this about me, too. But time has proven this to me in my life, always.), I guess this is a mutual thing. But empathy is something I wish more people had the courage to show.
What types of music do you like? I don't know many songs by The Talking Heads, unfortunately. And never heard of The Postal Service, but this doesn't mean I cannot look them up~ :D!

My taste in music is rather eclectic... the only genre I seriously cannot stand is American country/western. People think I'm exaggerating, but it triggers misophonia in me; it genuinely gets under my skin and makes me want to scream. :[ But I'll give anything else a fair listen. My most-listened-to genres are probably goth rock, Japanese indie rock, post punk, and romantic classical, but lately I've also been into synth pop, '90s rock/alternative, and motown/oldies. If you have any music you'd like to recommend, please feel free to share anytime! :D

This is such a lovely answer. I also can't remember many crayon colour names...except for dandelion, and that's only because there's someone who makes videos on TikTok about having a dandelion crayon fixation.
