About
I'm Harley.
I'm a multi-disciplinary artist, animator and programmer. I've also worked as a sysadmin and in technical project management for several years.
I like telling stories, visual or otherwise, and I build tools to help me do that. I write, draw, design, model, animate and program almost everything I do myself, hunched over a desk in the wee small hours outside of my day job.
All through my education, I was repeatedly told I had to focus in on an area in order to progress into a high-performance career space. This is probably true, but if you try and make me I will simply sit still and fizz until I explode. I am allergic to specialisation.
My goal is, and will always be, to make the term 'generalist' next to my name seem reductive.
Meta
This website, cunningly disguised as a portfolio, is also a digital garden of notes, essays and other scribblings: you can read about the stuff I use to make things. You can see what I'm reading and playing, and examine other things about my media collecting in the library. You can even read about this website's construction in its colophon. At the last build of this site, 36,575 words were published from the wiki, of a total of 182,462.
