oh dear

I have the most appalling yearning for some sort of World War 2 AU with characters from any fandom at all fitting into it all over the place.

Anyone fancy helping me turn this into an RP so I don't have to actually write it as fic? We've lost a few games lately, new and shiny ones could be fun.

An airbase, a training ground, trenches, espionage, code breakers, strategy decisions, desperation at the front lines, period restrictions, military hospitals and shared bunks...

Not been listening to too much Hut 33 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007r8hg), have you?

Well, *I* like Hut 33. But if I tell you I also like Elven Quest, Bleak Expectations and Old Harry's Game, maybe that'll put you off trying it!

Ooooh. Sounds like fun. Edit: And I've been kinda wanting to run a game, but something low pressure. I was thinking tabletop, since that's what I've done before, but hey. Something new.

That actually sounds intriguing, and yes, I'd be interested if it happens.... and you say any fandom... X-men (movie-verse canon in particular) wouldn't be a problem to draw from, would it? *bats muses back towards the already existing plot bunnies for now*

Boy, this idea doesn't sound familiar (http://community.livejournal.com/the_pretty_fits/78441.html) at all....*g*

Srsly, if there's an RP, I'll join; I've been wanting to pull out my Jim Ellison, and a WW2 rp sounds like just the ticket.

RP! *g*

I'd offer to help run stuff but I am not entirely sure I am completely reliable...? *beams* RP! YAY!

I'm...feeling....drawn....to....this....idea....must...hold...back...and...re-join...old...RP...first...

Fuck it, I'm probably in. If you wanna toss around a few ideas I'll be on IM tomorrow night?

I'm a shitty RP-er, or I'd want to join. I think with WWII it's kind of the last time period you could conceivably have female characters cross-dressing (there are always conceivable excuses you can make for not getting undressed in front of other people; noticeable scarring from an accident you're embarrassed about, saying your sect of Christianity is incredibly strict even around members of the same sex, etc.) and bribing their way in to service (or at least stealing someone's identity after basic so they could run off and do their thing and she could defend her country as more than a nurse or secretary). I dunno, I think it would be awesome if a female character did that, passed, and after some incident (maybe a wound that was taken care of in the field) some of her group found out, but decided to keep her secret because "She's shitty at figuring out where mines are, but hits what she shoots at and doesn't waste ammunition". ::shrugs::

Just remember that back then, period restrictions on stuff like sexuality were sometimes more lax depending on where you were stationed and who was in charge of you. There's stories of, I believe this guy was stationed somewhere in the Pacific during WWII, where the one out-ish queer dude was screwing his entire group, his higher up found out, and when he was going to make a fuss that h.u.'s immediate boss told him to lay off and not try to get him kicked out and sent home, because it was good for morale.

::snorfles:: Are you like me and compulsively note-write when you research? And sticky-note half the pages in a given books?
