Do I need a license key to use Darkify?

Only for Pro. The free version on WordPress.org works without any key. A license key unlocks Pro features, automatic updates, and ticket support.

What happens when my license expires?

Your site keeps working exactly as configured. You stop receiving updates and support until you renew; then both resume immediately.

Can I use one license on several sites?

Depends on the plan: Single Site covers one, Five Sites covers five, Unlimited covers as many as you like. Staging and local development installs generally do not consume an activation.

Is there a refund policy?

Yes — 14 days, no questions asked, on every Pro plan.

Is there a lifetime option?

Yes, at all three site tiers. It is a one-time payment covering updates and support for the life of the plugin.

Does it work with Elementor, Divi and other builders?

Yes — Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, Beaver Builder, Bricks, Oxygen, and Breakdance are all supported, along with Gutenberg block themes.

Does it work with WooCommerce?

Yes. Shop, product, cart, and checkout pages are all handled. Many stores exclude checkout from dark mode and exclude product images from greyscale — both take a moment to configure.

Do I need to know CSS?

No. Everything is configured through the admin panel. Custom CSS is there for the last few percent, and entirely optional.

Will it slow my site down?

Darkify loads one small stylesheet and one lightweight script, with no external requests and no tracking. Dark mode is applied before the page paints, so there is no white flash for visitors who prefer dark.

Is it compatible with caching plugins?

Yes — WP Rocket, LiteSpeed, W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache, and Cloudflare, among others. The preference is applied in the browser, so cached HTML is not an issue. Clear your cache after changing settings.

Can visitors switch modes themselves?

Yes, in as many ways as you want to offer: a floating switch, a switch in your navigation menu, a shortcode anywhere on the page, the Dark Mode Switcher block in Gutenberg, the Darkify Switcher widget in Elementor, a keyboard shortcut, or any existing element you nominate.

Is there a Gutenberg block?

Yes — the Dark Mode Switcher block. Search for Darkify in the block inserter and drop it into any post, page or template part. All sixteen switch styles, size, border, and separate light and dark colours are set from the editor sidebar, and it works in block theme template parts so you can place one directly in your header or footer.

Is there an Elementor widget?

Yes — the Darkify Switcher widget. It carries the same sixteen styles and colour controls, plus responsive alignment and support for Elementor global colours, so the switch follows your brand palette if you ever revise it.

Does Darkify support OS-aware dark mode?

Yes. If the visitor's device is set to dark appearance, your site opens dark automatically. Their own click always takes priority afterwards.

Can I enable dark mode only at night?

Yes. Turn on Time Based Auto Dark Mode under Controls → Frontend and set your hours. It uses the visitor's local time, not your server time.

Can I customise the switcher?

Extensively. Pro includes 16 designs, seven sizes, four corner positions, custom colours for each mode, borders, tooltips, six attention animations, and optional drag-to-move for visitors.

Can I put a switch in my menu?

Yes, in as many menus as you have, at the beginning or end of each, styled globally or individually.

Can I replace images or my logo in dark mode?

Yes. Map any image to a dark-mode alternative under Media → Image Controls → Replace Images. Videos can be swapped the same way, including YouTube, Vimeo, and Dailymotion embeds.

Can I apply dark mode only to certain pages or posts?

Yes. Advanced → Page/Posts Restriction gives you allow-lists and block-lists for both pages and posts, chosen from a dropdown.

Can I write CSS that only runs in dark mode?

Yes. Advanced → Custom CSS has a dedicated dark-mode editor, plus a second editor for CSS that applies in both modes.

Does it cover the WordPress admin?

Yes — the dashboard, the block editor, and the classic editor, each with its own colour palette. It is a per-user preference, so your team members choose individually.

How many colour presets are there?

Eleven, and every colour inside each one is editable. You can also pin individual colours to exact dark-mode replacements with Color Overrides.

Can I stop dark mode touching one section?

Yes. Add its CSS selector to Disallowed Elements under Advanced → HTML/CSS Restriction.

Is Darkify GDPR compliant?

Yes. The visitor's mode preference is stored in their own browser. No personal data is collected, nothing is sent to a third-party server, and no cookie banner is required for it.

What happens to my settings if I delete the plugin?

They stay in the database unless you enabled "Clean-up Data on Deletion" under Tools. Reinstall and everything returns as you left it.

Can I move my configuration to another site?

Yes. Export a JSON backup from Tools, then import it on the other site.

Pro customers use the contact form or the Get Help screen inside the plugin, with most tickets answered within one business day. Free users are supported on the WordPress.org forum .
