Darkify runs on WordPress 5.5 or newer with PHP 7.1 or newer. That is the floor. In practice, almost any hosting account set up in the last few years already clears it comfortably.

Browser support #
Darkify works in every current browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Opera and Brave, on desktop and mobile. OS-aware dark mode relies on the standard prefers-color-scheme media query, which all of them support.
Theme and page builder compatibility #
Darkify does not require a special theme. It works with classic themes, block themes and page builders alike, including:
- Elementor and Elementor Pro
- Divi and the Divi Builder
- WPBakery Page Builder
- Beaver Builder
- Bricks, Oxygen and Breakdance
- Gutenberg block themes (Twenty Twenty-Four, Kadence, Astra, GeneratePress, Blocksy, OceanWP and similar)
- WooCommerce shop, cart and checkout pages
Using a caching plugin? Darkify is compatible with WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache and Cloudflare. Because the dark mode preference is applied in the visitor’s browser, cached HTML is not a problem. After changing Darkify settings, clear your cache once so visitors get the updated stylesheet.
What Darkify does not need #
- No theme child or theme edit.
- No external service or API key for the dark mode itself (a license key is only used to verify Pro updates).
- No coding. Custom CSS is available if you want it, but nothing requires it.
Performance #
Darkify loads a small stylesheet and a lightweight script. There is no render-blocking third-party request, no web font, and no tracking. Dark mode is applied before the page paints, so visitors who prefer dark never see a white flash first.
