Play NES & SNES (playnes.org) respects intellectual property rights. This page explains how copyright holders can submit a notice, how we handle takedowns, and how we treat repeat infringers.

What to Include in a Notice

To help us act quickly, please include:

  • Your full name, organization (if any), mailing address, telephone number, and email address
  • A description of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed
  • The exact URL(s) or other location of the allegedly infringing material on playnes.org
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
  • A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf
  • Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full legal name is acceptable for email)

Incomplete notices may delay review. We may request additional details before removing content.

Copyright Notice Process

  1. Acknowledge — We aim to confirm receipt of a complete notice within one business day.
  2. Review — We review the claim against the reported URL(s) and related materials.
  3. Remove or disable — Upon receipt of a notice that substantially complies with applicable law, we act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the identified material where appropriate.
  4. Record — We keep an internal record of the notice, the action taken, and the date for compliance tracking.

If the material is not hosted by us, or the claim is incomplete or facially invalid, we will explain why we cannot take the requested action.

Counter-Notice

If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, email the copyright contact with:

  • Your contact details and a description of the removed material and its former location
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification
  • Consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district where your address is located (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which Play NES & SNES may be found), and acceptance of service of process from the complainant
  • Your physical or electronic signature

Where appropriate, we may restore the material after the waiting period required by applicable law, unless the copyright claimant seeks a court order restraining restoration.

Repeat Infringer Policy

We maintain a policy for repeat copyright infringers:

  • Each validated takedown tied to a member account or uploader is logged against that account
  • First validated infringement — content removed; warning notice to the account holder when identifiable
  • Second validated infringement — content removed; temporary suspension of upload / share privileges (where applicable) and a final warning
  • Third validated infringement — permanent termination of the account and blocking of associated identifiers where reasonably available

We may accelerate suspension or termination for clear, willful, or large-scale infringement. Terminated accounts are not entitled to a refund for unused Premium membership solely because of a copyright termination.

Local ROM Loading

The Upload ROM tool processes the selected file locally in the user's browser. The selected file is not uploaded to, stored by, or distributed by Play NES & SNES. Users may only load game files and other materials they own or are legally authorized to use.

Trademarks

Game titles, characters, logos, and other trademarks belong to their respective owners. References on this site are for identification and informational purposes. A trademark complaint may be sent to the same copyright contact email.
