[ English ] This is fantastic, I love it! A motion promo for the Bonaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee. Directed by Elliot Jockelson. "We made this video using an experimental animation process that utilizes the principals of traditional cell animation (think of a flip book) in a very unique way. By removing the negative space of each cell or frame of animation you are able to see the history of frames before it. For our piece we designed an animation rig that was 19 frames deep, allowing us to see 19 frames of our animation at once."

"Hicimos el video utilizando una tecnica experimental en el proceso de animacion, utilizando los principios tradicionales en una forma bastante unica. Removimos el espacio negativo de cada celula o cuadro para que se visualizaran los cuadros anteriores que la antecedieron. Por cada pieza de animacion se ven 19 cuadros anteriores, dejando ver 19 cuadros de animacion al mismo tiempo."

With a diverse background ranging from fashion & automotive design to architecture and event production. She has given talks internationally on her book, 'vE-"jA, which captures a global snapshot of the international VJ scene.
Xárene's recent works look towards media in defining temporary habitats in invisible urban infrastructures. She holds an MFA from UCLA's Design/Media Arts, and is currently working towards her PhD at UCLA Arch. & Urban Design. She recently completed a VJ tour with Hennessy Artistry and has some short films in the making.
NAUTE MOLDEO INTERACTIVE/ TRIPTYCH MIRROR/ ARGENTINA
Nauté is Andres, Colubri, a visual performing artist, hacker, researcher and open knowledge advocate. Originally from Argentina, he has spent a number of years in the U.S. navigating between diverse areas of scientific and artistic practice, from bioinformatics to media arts and interactivity.
Now based in L.A. , he is exploring the languages of live cinema and VJ'ing while developing his own custom software tools for visual performance, in collaboration with artist Xárene Eskándar from Lumens.
Visual artist Miguel Vega, Originally from Argentina, has been doing visuals for various live performances and installations since 2002.

[ English ] This sounds really interesting!, United Visual Artists Matt Clark and Chris Bird will be presenting an overview of the practice's process and development on February 10th 2009 at UCLA's Department of Design | Media Arts (DMA). Looks like its open to public.

For over a decade, Irwins Conspiracy has been doing Live Electronic performances consisting of elements of breakbeat, ambient, noise and some live mash ups. His unique performances are made up of live electronic drumming, along with sounds looped live and triggered via modules/computer and controlled using a theremin.
Irwin takes a break from his weekly LA gig at Air Conditioned Lounge to take the drive south to perform at BrokenBeat Night. You may have seen his DVD, now see the real thing live at Kadan.
BrokenBeats own Breakah Breakah 1-9 warms things up at Kadan for his performance next month at the Source festival in Maui. Pure filthy, nasty glitchy-ness closing out the night right… we will be moppin' off the dance-floor once this thing is over….
Dirty Dr Nickels has been makin some headz talk lately bout his newfound nasty sounds. Taking a break from his Wednesday night elevate hustling we are happy to have Dr Nickels drop bombs for BB Night.

After a lot of research and with the help from Accent Feed's readers I was able to put together a list of some of the 10 most impressive visuals seen in concerts in 2008.
This was not intended to be taken as a competition, or to see who is better than who, I believe you can't measure who is the best band, or who is the best VJ in the world, this is meant to inspire other video artists/ video art lovers, and to spread the word about the importance of video art/ visuals in concerts.

Brokenbeat was voted "San Diego's best Intelligent Dance Music Night" by weekly paper San Diego City Beat, you can read a little interview we did with here.
Formed in '97, producer Eduard Glukhov evisioned a single cell orchestra, creating off of hardware original basslines and drum patterns. With sounds ranging from trip-hop to jazz to ambient to jungle.
Fronted by songstress Kristen Muirhead, their sound is extremely haunting with hypnotically dark rhythms
Justin Stephenson aka Puppy Kicker*. Will cause you to have hearing loss. Children scream and women swoon when he drops filthy, disgusting, beats dripping of primordial ooze that take away your breath & melt your face.
Working primarily in multimedia & video art. Eric Medine has a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago & Masters from The Otis School of Art and Design in L.A. where he now resides.
He has curated & contributed multiple exhibitions and his work was shown all over L.A. aswell as countries like France, Bulgaria, Netherlands and more.

On the Musical side we had a special night featuring live electronic music with Secuencia virtual, DJ The Messenger, Rise of the Speedmen, and Breakah.
[ Castellano ] Aca algunas fotos de lo que fue el ultimo Brokenbeat Night, aca en San Diego, California. El Vj invitado de la noche fue Charley Ten mostrando muy buenos trabajo, Charley es tambien un DJ, si les gusta el House, bajen algunos de sus sets en su pagina, muy bueno.
En la parte musical tuvimos musica electronica en vivo con Secuencia Virtual, DJ The Messenger, Rise of the Speedmen y Breakah.
[ English ] Here are some photos of last saturday's Brokenbeat night. This was the first time we had 3 Vjs in the same night, unfortunately we couldn't jam all 3 at the same time, but we'll do it soon I'm sure. Creator of NeuroMixer, Vj Faderwas kind enough to join us from LA. I got the chance to see how neuromixer works, and I have to say, it's really user friendly, if you get a chance, try it out. He even has a free version that it's great for beginners.
Also performing was Ciber Patrol Unit also from Los Angeles, but he performed as part of Turbo Scum, a trio conformed by CPU on the visuals and D.C. Dj duo Party On Marz. I was blown away, by the act. Turbo Scum uses 3 laptops, a Micro Korg controller and 2 Lemur/ Jazz Mutant controllers. Peep the video above.

Esta fue la primera vez que hubo 3 Vjs en una noche, lamentablemente no pudimos hacer un trio jam simultaneamente, pero lo dejaremos para la proxima. El creador de NeuroMixer, Vj Fader vino desde L.A. y tube la chance de ver como Neuromixer trabaja, debo mencionar que es muy amigable a primera vista, y como fader tiene una version gratuita en su pagina, lo hace ideal para aquel que quiera empezar a hacer visuales.
Tambien participando estuvo Ciber Patrol Unit tambien de Los Angeles, pero como parte de Turbo Scum, un trio conformado por el DJ duo de D.C. Party On Marz muy pero muy buena la presentacion, Turbo Scum usa 3 laptops, un controlador Micro Korg y 2 controladores multi touchLemur/ Jazz Mutant. un fragmento en video arriba.
[ English ] Here is a quick edit I made for a fashion show by Neighbourhood Boutique here in San Diego, hosted at Cream Coffee Bar, where I did visuals. The challenge was to transform the space with very little budget, from a coffee shop atmosphere to as close as we could get to a nightclub feel, so I decided to ask help from Gage at Merge Events, and he was kind enough to bring lights and the most important thing, the runway.
I decided to make a time lapse of the transformation phase in order to be able to show it to future clients, I think its a good idea, slowly I'm discovering that I can't really have other people imagine my vision of things just by telling them, but if you show them something similar, chances are that they will say: I want that!
[ Castellano ] Aquin un rapido edit que hice, para un fashion show en organizado por Neighbourhood Boutique , aqui en San Diego, en Cream Coffee Bar donde hice visuales. La meta era transformar el espacio cpn un presupuesto bajo, de un Cafe a lo mas cercano posible a un nightclub, Para esto llame a mi amigo Gage de Merge Events y el fue de mucha ayuda trayendo una pasarela y luces.
Decidi realizar un time-lapse sobre la transformacion, para poder mostrar a futuros clientes el antes y el despues. Creo que es una buena idea, de a poco voy descubriendo que a veces no puedo transmitir mis ideas a otras mis clientes, con solo palabras, pero que si le muestro algo concreto, lo mas probable es que digan: Lo quiero!
English Just wanted to share a few pictures I took from some of the VJs that had performed the past year at Brokenbeat, The goal is to have at least 1 different Vj every night, I've met so many incredible artists thanks to this event, each one with their own style and set up, and since the nature of the VJ is to hang out in the dark, away from the spotlight, you can't really recognize their faces like it would happen with a Dj or a musician, so I thought it would be nice to put a face to the name. Thanks to everyone that was kind enough to support a FREE event, I hope we can have more new faces doing visuals soon!
Castellano Solo queria compartir algunas de las fotos que fui tomando de diferentes VJs que han participado en Brokenbeat en los ultimos meses, la meta seria traer al menos 1 Vj diferente cada noche, gracias a esto he podido conocer a varios artistas increibles, cada uno con su estilo, y su set up y como usualmente la naturaleza del VJ es estar en la oscuridad, nunca se les ven las caras, como pasaria con musicos y Djs. Pense que seria bueno poner algunas caras con los nombres. Gracias a todos los que han participado en un evento completamente GRATUITO, Ojala podamos seguir viendo caras nuevas haciendo visuales muy pronto!
