{Amor Fati} by Washed Out

First of all, sorry for falling off the face of the earth for a few weeks.  The last two specifically have been rather hectic/crazy/sad...

Good news though...I'm back and just in time to help you spruce up your iPod/playlist for Spring roll-your-windows-down weather. Yay!

I used to download the Urban Outfitters playlists as a resource to find new music but I got so behind {having a big girl/boy job tends to cut into "your" time, haha} that I had to part ways and go a slower/different route.  Parting is such sweet sorrow... However, before I "broke it off," I did discover the sounds of Washed Out - a one man "dream pop" band from Georgia. {Wonder if he knows Honey Boo Boo?}

One song in particular makes my "windows-down" playlist no matter what: "Amor Fati" which Wikipedia defines as...

a Latin phrase loosely translating to 'love of fate' or 'love of one's fate.' It is used to describe an attitude in which one sees everything that happens in one's life, including suffering and loss, as good. 

Considering the fact that we are coming out of a season where everything has died, we can see now with our own eyes that the "suffering and loss" has paved a way for new life to "spring" up all around us.  Just a thought...

So, check out Amor Fati with a sound reminiscent of the Breakfast Club's theme song which is, in my book, perfect for a anyone's "windows-down" playlist.

Summer Playlist {Song #14: Lasso by Phoenix}

I bet you thought I forgot all about you, eh? Welp, no...no, I haven't.  I've been wrestling over my last two picks for my Summer Playlist and realized they were right under my nose!

Song #14 comes from a French indie band from Versailles (wooo!).  Yes, it's in English.  I think they showed up on my radar because of Slacker, but, these days, there's really no telling where I heard it or Shazaam'd it, haha.  I haven't really been listening to this band lately for no particular reason but I've been relying on my iPod at work lately which is an awesome mix of music (if I do say so myself) but still, it's limited because I have a budget.  Anyways, I was sitting a bible study this week and one of the girl's in my group cell phone went off and it was this song.  It hit me and I was like "Duh, I love this song!"  There's no official video for this song but I doubt you'll want to sit and watch while this song is on...I mean, I have a hard time sitting still when this song comes on!  I give you, Lasso by Phoenix.

Summer Playlist + Song #1: Blow Away

If you haven't figured it out yet, I love music.  It has always been a huge part of my life and I plan on keeping it that way in some form or fashion.  Also, I love summertime.  I love all the options that you have in the summer: hiking, volleyball, swimming, float trips, picnics, driving with your windows down, and the list goes on and on...

I look at music like it's part of the soundtrack of my life.  When I listen to music, I listen for it to fit a certain area, time, or season of my life.  So take music + summer and add them together and you get "Calli's Summertime Windows-Rolled-Down Playlist" or just Calli's Summer Playlist, haha.

I love sharing my music "finds" with others so I'm going to share my Summer Playlist with you....or at least the top 15 songs, hehe.  I have no idea what songs I'll be picking or find.  Some of the songs may be oldies, newbies or just goodies :)

So, without further ado, I present Song #1 on Calli's Summer Playlist:  Blow Away by A Fine Frenzy
